Apple's strategy is moving more and more towards services. After all, this bet paid off, as this category is the fastest growing. It is also reflected in the economic results, and the last quarter showed the strength of services.

At this year's September Keynote, which was not only about the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, Apple announced a very interesting event. Anyone who purchases a new Apple product (iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, Apple TV) from September 10 will receive a full year's subscription to Apple TV+ for free. The activation of the service starts on November 1, i.e. tomorrow. Which is also the first day of the launch of the entire video streaming service.

According to Tim Cook, it is about "good gift for customers". In addition, this will get the content into the hands of more users who will be able to enjoy it. "We look at the service category and decide what we can do for that segment", Cook further explains. In the future, he did not rule out that Apple will prepare other similar packages. "I do not rule out that the same opportunity cannot arise in the future," Cook concluded the interview while announcing the financial results.

The Apple TV+ competition has ace up its sleeve

Of course, Apple is entering a highly competitive market. Apple TV+ will fight the incumbents players like Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO or now also Disney+. Apple wants to bet on its original content. Initially, the offer should be around a dozen series and movies, later but it is to be expanded.

The competition, on the other hand, offers an extensive catalog of series, films and its own content. For example, Disney+ can rely on famous names such as Marvel or Star Wars, which will have their new episodes exclusively on this service. The Mandalorian series from the Star Wars setting, for example, arouses great expectations.

Apple is also trying to score points with the price. It offers all its original content for just 139 CZK per month, even as part of family sharing. On the other hand, it contains the fewest titles and, compared to the slightly more expensive Disney+ (approx. 180 CZK), it does not even offer big names. The HBO GO service is also very popular in the Czech Republic thanks to localization and support.

Only the first numbers will show how many people will actually subscribe to Apple TV+ after the 7-day trial period ends.
