The head of Apple, Tim Cook, revealed that the Apple Card will not remain available only in the United States, but will expand further.

While visiting neighboring Germany, Tim Cook gave an interview to Bild. Among other things, he also confirmed the long-standing speculation that the Apple Card will certainly not remain exclusive to the US. On the contrary, the plans speak of wide availability.

Apple Card should ideally be available wherever you buy an iPhone. Although these are bold plans, the reality is a bit more complicated. Cook himself warns that Apple runs into a lot of different legislation in each country that mandates different rules and regulations for providing credit cards.

At the same time, the Apple credit card provides interesting benefits. Outside of daily shopping rewards, i.e. 1% of every payment, 2% when using Apple Pay and 3% when buying in the Apple Store, users also boast zero fees for purchases abroad.

Apple Card physics

Apple Card is heading to Germany

Unfortunately, everything is currently only available to customers in the US, where Apple relies on a strong partner in the form of the banking institution Goldman Sachs. The initial labor pains are over, and now getting a card is almost painless, as long as the applicant passes the check directly with Goldman Sachs.

In order for Apple to issue its credit cards outside the US, it will need an equally strong partner or partners abroad. This shouldn't be such a problem when others see that Apple Card is celebrating success.

On the other hand, going into a bundle with Apple costs something. Goldman Sachs pays $350 for each Apple Card activation plus other fees. The bank does not expect a quick return on the investment and rather talks about a four-year horizon. However, according to the forecasts, the profit should appear and this will be the main reason why Apple will eventually attract other partners.

Finally, good news for our German neighbors. Tim Cook has made it clear that he wants to launch Apple Card in Germany.
