Apple is known for trying to keep news announcements under wraps until the last moment, but the reality is that even Apple manages to reveal news a little earlier. Mostly this is due to findings in new beta versions of operating systems, other times it is possible to publish information on the official website a few moments earlier. Now, however, CEO Tim Cook himself provided a glimpse into the future.

During a panel discussion during his visit to Ireland on Monday, he announced that Apple is working on technologies that will make it possible to detect serious health problems at an early stage. The company develops these technologies mainly in connection with the Apple Watch. The last two generations offer built-in FDA approved ECG support. They are thus the very first consumer electronics of their kind in the world. Apple Watch can also detect atrial fibrillation, the most common type of heart arrhythmia.

According to a patent that Apple received in late 2019, technology is also in development that would allow the Apple Watch toy detect Parkinson's disease in its early stagesi or tremor symptoms. Tim Cook did not go into details during the panel discussion, he added that theahe's saving that announcement for another performance, but he mentioned, that he puts great hope into the project.

He criticized that the health sector in many cases starts dealing with technologies only when it is too late and that money is not used effectively in the sector. According to him, thanks to the availability of advanced health technologies, many cases could be prevented and, as a result, it would also reduce the costs of health care for patients. He also stated that this intersection of industries has not been explored enough and indirectly hinted that he hopes that Apple will not be the only one interested in this area.
