TikTok, the company behind ByteDance, is a huge success. According to a study by the company Tower Sensor was the most downloaded app worldwide during the quarantine period, making it over 3 billion downloads. It is thus the first application other than those owned by Facebook to surpass this goal.

And it should be mentioned that she didn't have it easy at all. In the US, she was threatened with government bans, it was banned completely in India. But its popularity has continued to grow, perhaps thanks to the sponsorship of the just-concluded EURO 2020 championship. According to the Sensor Tower study, TikTok is the fifth application to join the exclusive association of three billion applications, whose members were until now only Facebook titles. Specifically, these are WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram.

Although Instagram is gradually adding features very similar to those in TikTok, the Chinese app is still successful. This is perhaps different from what happened with Snapchat when Instagram introduced its Stories feature. In addition, Sensor Tower believes that ByteDance will undoubtedly continue to innovate and build the ecosystem of creators on TikTok to keep the platform as relevant as possible for its users, as other competition in the form of Kwai and Moj platforms grows.
