Here we are on the 5th day of 2021. Even today, most of humanity is still looking cautiously towards the future and trying to minimize the effects of the ever-spreading disease of COVID-19. However, let's leave the predictions to the epidemiologists and let's take a look at other news that took place in the technological world - and there were quite a few of them. As it turned out, the world's largest giants are not idle in this regard and are trying to use the situation to their advantage. It all speaks to the fact that COVID-19 tests are heading to vending machines instead of Snickers bars, NASA is revealing its plans for this year, and DC is trying to deal with the aftermath of massive fan disappointment after the release of Wonder Woman 1984 on streaming services.

Vending machines where to get tests for COVID-19? Forget about unhealthy snacks

Of course, from time to time you use the classic machines that can be found in almost every school and workplace. For some small money, you can buy a snack in the form of chocolate bars, baguettes or various drinks. Nevertheless, times are changing and it seems that the current image of the world is also reflected in this seemingly insignificant aspect of human existence. In California, they came up with a solution to offer tests for COVID-19 to as many people as possible while minimizing the risk of infection. Until now, everyone who wanted to be tested had to first go to their doctor, where they stood in a long line, and then had a PCR, more precisely an antigen test. However, this is gradually changing.

It was the University of California that decided to overturn the existing testing system and offer everyone the opportunity to find out for free whether they are positive or not, through an unconventional solution, which is machines. In any case, you won't get any goodies out of them, but a special test for COVID-19. For now, these facilities are only located in 11 different locations, but can be expected to expand to more locations in the future. In the end, this is one of the most effective ways to minimize the risk of transmission and at the same time offer students and workers the opportunity to isolate themselves as quickly as possible if they find any of the symptoms.

NASA looks to the future with cautious optimism. With his new video, he invites you to travel to the depths of space

There is no doubt that last year was stolen by the space company SpaceX, which launched a record number of rockets and made history at the same time. Nevertheless, rival NASA is not giving up and is trying to get a glimpse of the visionary Elon Musk not only for an innovative way of space transportation, but also for his ambitious plans. For this reason as well, the scientists decided to release a video to the world where they cautiously look to the future and entice all space enthusiasts to travel to the moon. Just for the sake of interest, from 2024 quite spectacular missions are being planned, with the goal of not only getting a man back to the Moon, but also to the Red Planet.

In any case, NASA also takes into account difficult obstacles that lengthen the path to this milestone. We are talking not only about the coronavirus pandemic, but also about high costs and a long period of proper training, which must not be underestimated. Nevertheless, preparations are in full swing and, as the space agency itself mentions, the video is not intended to attract unfulfilled promises, but rather a bittersweet reality, which is not always simple, but NASA still believes that humanity will soon be able to reach the surface of not only the Moon, but and Mars. The Artemis program has been in preparation for several years, and so has the mission that will transport humans to the Red Planet. And with the full support of politicians and private corporations, which is not just symbolic.

DC is scratching its head. The long-awaited Wonder Woman 1984 is an incredible flop

While there's no arguing that the future belongs to streaming platforms, it's always up to the studio how they take advantage of this opportunity and whether they can engage fans without showing the film on the big screen in fancy theaters. And it was the legendary DC that significantly underestimated this fact. Many superhero fans have been waiting for a blockbuster in the form of Wonder Woman 1984 for a long time, which was supposed to be one of the first to focus exclusively on streaming platforms and rely only on its wit, story and effects. But as it turns out, in DC's finale, there's nothing left to do but hold your head and hope that fans will forgive the filmmakers for this misstep.

The reviews speak strongly against the film and at the same time mention that it is a stretched and unoriginal boredom without a hint of difference, which fits perfectly among other similar efforts. Although the film earned a solid 36.1 million dollars in the first weekend and 118.5 million dollars in total, it was the dissatisfaction of the fans that apparently deterred other interested parties. Indeed, during the second week, audience engagement dropped by 67% and only underscored DC's inability to effectively compete with Marvel. The latter has experience with streaming platforms, while DC has relied solely on attracting fans with familiar names and epic trailers.
