We have already written several times in our column about the colonization, as well as possible terraforming, i.e. the transformation of the planet's environment into such a state that it resembles the Earth as much as possible, of various worlds. The grateful theme attracts not only independent video game developers, but also board game designers. One of the popular records dealing with this topic is undoubtedly Terraforming Mars by Jacob Fryxelius. Studio Asmodee Digital also chose this as one of their numerous ports to convert to digital form.

Terraforming Mars combines aspects of player cooperation and competition in an original way. Although the terraforming of Mars is the main goal of all players in the game. Together, they will work together to fill the atmosphere with oxygen, red deserts to bloom with plants, and dry oceans to fill with water again. On the other hand, however, the entire process is governed by the orders of a huge corporation, for whose affection (represented in the game in the form of reputation) you will compete with others.

The most important game element in Terraforming Mars is the project cards. While normal cards will place you on the hexagonal playing field at any time during your turns and gain reputation points for them, projects usually require clearly defined conditions to be met. During the construction of such projects, you must also think about how they fit thematically with your other cards. The key to winning the game is to chain related cards and enjoy their cooperation.
