Jiří Filip An extensive update of the Czech application was released today ventusky, which visualizes meteorological data. The new version of the application brings several important innovations. The application will now display meteorological fronts on the map. It uses neural networks to calculate them. It is even the first app in the world to display a forecast of frontal systems for the whole world based on models (normally a forecast of frontal systems is created manually and only for a limited area). At the same time, the forecast of fronts is important and gives users information about changes in wind, temperatures or visibility. Thanks to it, events in the atmosphere can be better understood.
The app also offers sea and ocean temperature forecasts for up to a week. At the same time, it will display sea currents (their speed and direction). For example, you can monitor the warming effect of the Gulf Stream or the expected development of sea water temperature.
Other news include a 4-day air quality forecast in a graph or a new layer showing temperature variations for a given day. Thanks to it, it is possible to know how much the weather in a given area is normal (deviating from the average between 1980 and 2020).
The goal of the project ventusky is to offer highly accurate weather information worldwide. It is the first application on the Internet that displays meteorological data in such a comprehensive manner. Visitors get access to data that only a few years ago meteorologists worked with.
