The crowdfunding portal Kickstarter is an inexhaustible well of ideas that provides many pearls. Sometimes they are very bold and the implementations do not run out, but other times it is an original and really usable solution that also breaks records in the number of supporters. The SnapGrip product from ShiftCam, i.e. a MagSafe grip combined with a power bank, is currently doing well.

The creators of SnapGrip were inspired by digital SLR cameras, which stand out not only in the quality of the resulting recording, but also in how they are held. Modern smartphones have many shortcomings in this regard. Their thin bodies do not exactly provide a 100% feeling of perfect grip, and taking pictures with them with one hand is quite difficult, especially with their larger sizes. So SnapGrip tries to solve this.

The success of the campaign also speaks for the fact that it does it in a very smart way. The creators had the goal of raising only about 10 thousand dollars, but they currently have more than 530 thousand dollars credited, when more than 4 people supported the project. The basic level, in which you only get the grip itself, costs 300 dollars (approx. 36 CZK), its full price will be 850 dollars (approx. 40 CZK). To the end of the campaign well over a month to go.

The entire ecosystem of products

As the name of the product suggests, this is a grip, that is, if you want a holder that provides an ideal firm and ergonomic hold of the phone while also offering a hardware trigger. It looks like you cut it off any DSLR and stuck it on your phone - it works in both portrait and landscape mode with it, of course. Thanks to its shape, it can also be used as a stand.

The solution contains magnets, so although it is primarily intended for MagSafe iPhones 12 and 13 series, but thanks to the presence of a circular sticker, you can use it with practically any smartphone. If it has wireless charging, the grip will also charge it with Qi technology. The manufacturer does not mention anything about the MagSafe certification, so it is mainly used here with regard to magnets, and it doesn't really matter, because the stated power is only 5 W. The battery capacity itself is 3200 mAh, so it will rather just maintain the battery " alive" rather than actually charging the device with it. At the same time, the grip charges, because it is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, which also "eats" a little.

However, the manufacturer builds an entire ecosystem of products on his idea. The SnapGrip is also magnetic on its other side, so you can also attach an external light to it. There is also a tripod attachment, and even an objective lens or a carrying case. It all depends on which package you choose. The most expensive one with full equipment will cost you 229 dollars (approx. 5 CZK) in the campaign and you will save 400% of the subsequent recommended retail price. Worldwide delivery to backers should start as early as August of this year. Shipping is paid separately. After the end of the campaign, you will still have several color options to choose from.
