Less than a week after the release of iOS 8, Apple published the first official numbers regarding the adoption of the new operating system on its developer portal. It already runs on 46 percent of active iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. Apple gets its data from the App Store, and the aforementioned 46 percent was measured as of September 21.
Another three percentage points more users have iOS 7 installed on their devices, only five percent use an older operating system. At the beginning of the month, Apple's pie chart showed iOS 7 running on 92% of devices. The speed with which users are switching to iOS 8 is not unusual, it is common for Apple operating systems.
However, Apple is struggling to approve apps in the App Store. There are many new and updated titles coming out with iOS 8, but last week Apple's approval team was only able to process 53 percent of newly added apps and 74 percent of updated ones.
I would like to point out that iOS8 works even on a 3,5 year old iPad 2!
The question is how. I have it too and the system lags like a pig. So disappointed again!
I have it on my iPad 3 and it's also a slideshow.
Well, really, iPad 3 when switching to iOS7, it was also such a pain from the beginning, but in the end they recommended it. I'd rather not go anywhere now.
I did not recognize any significant difference compared to iOS7
Unfortunately I have to agree. My iPad 2 worked great before the update. I've been using it daily, but after upgrading to iOS 8, it's just gathering dust. It's a proven Apple policy to force people to upgrade to newer HW.
I preferred to perform a restore as a new iPad2 and I didn't even pull a backup from the cloud there, and it runs faster than iOS7. I have 64G/3G
screamed... I've never seen such a show in my life... it does what it wants!
I turned an iPad 2 with the introduction of iOS8 into a tablet for 3000, - this is exactly how they behave and cut. It's disappointing on Apple's part and stupid of me to jump right in! Unfortunately, I fear more disappointment in the future than enthusiasm like years ago, but we'll see :)
Hello, is it possible that I still haven't received the update to ios8? i have iphone5 and ios7 installed .. thanks FK
Try updating via iTunes ;-)
After updating to iOS 8 (iphone 5c), my messenger stopped working. Every time I turn it on, it crashes (restore the entire system didn't help either). Does anyone have the same problem?
just today I downgraded to iOS7 :) problem-free activation. maybe the speed on iPhone 4S will be improved in other versions, but practice shows that it is best to skip the update on the "last" device. 4S can thus serve another owner quickly for many more years
May I ask how to downgrade? I tried but it still gives me error 3014... Thanks
I download the exact firmware (ipsw file) from the net, in my case for iphone 4S. In itunes, I click on restore while holding the option key/alt (in WIN I mean CTLR or SHIFT). maybe the downgrade option is not blocked yet.
A lot of people are still waiting for the 8.0.1 update, which will hopefully solve problems with the flashlight, hacking on older devices and also remove bugs... There are also still people waiting for Yosemite or when they have time to clean up their mess ;) iOS 8 demands a lot...
I updated to iOS 8 and now regret it. And I have the latest hardware. The errors from iOS 7 have not been fixed, but new ones have been added, some applications do not even run, some are not debugged enough after the necessary modifications, some lag madly... The whole system is like a beta version - it has problems in itself.
I have an ipad air and after updating to iOS8 I have Skype in German? Does anyone know what I'm doing? Thank you.
I once managed to convince another obstinately foreign-language program after setting the system to English and then back to ČJ.
yes, I also did this stupid thing, updated and now I regret it very much.. I could easily "throw away" all the BT devices that 7 ran like clockwork because the 5S simply doesn't pair with them... don't worry, it vibrates by itself (even in airplane mode), then I can't use non-origo cables, etc.. just screw it up..
I'm happy with iOS6, I even have 2 on my iPad 5.0.1 and I'm happy. Since iOS 7, it's one big abomination...
Thanks to everyone for the comments, you've nicely discouraged me from updating :D
