In the last episode in our series Technique without eyes, we focused on how I actually work on the phone, which tasks I perform most often, and especially why I chose iPhone 12 mini. I gave the phone a proper stress test, and in the following lines I would like to share with you how satisfied I am with the device, and whether I am only worried about the average battery life, which probably causes the most controversy among users.

As I mentioned in the article attached above, I am not one of those users who need to spend time on the phone 24 hours a day. On the other hand, it's true that I don't even use the phone very much, and a below-average endurance would definitely limit me - even taking into account the price tag for which the smartphone is offered. Over the past few days, I've been using the new Apple phone the same way you used the old one. In short, there was occasional listening to music and watching videos, in addition to browsing websites and social networks. Of course, I must not forget to mention several hours of work when, among other things, the iPad was connected to a personal hotspot on the iPhone. My day starts around 7:30am, and I reach for the charger between about 21pm and 00pm, when my phone has the last 22% battery left.

But everyone uses a smartphone differently, and that's how I approached the situation. When I really "heated" it up from the morning, spending a lot of time playing games and watching videos and basically not letting go of it, the battery life dropped rapidly. Around 14:00 p.m., I had to connect the iPhone 12 mini with the last 20% of the battery to the charger. On the contrary, if you use your device most often for what it is primarily intended for, namely making calls, and you sporadically write a message on it, search for information or just follow the navigation for a few tens of minutes, you will have no difficulty getting almost two days of battery life. But what is definitely worth noting is that I have the screen protector on my phone, which ensures that nothing can be seen on it, but at the same time I have the voiceover, which has a really noticeable effect on consumption.

If we were to focus on the values I reached, the endurance with the VoiceOver reader on and the screen off is very similar to what a normal user would get with the display on and VoiceOver off. So, if you are a visually impaired user and are among those who have a white stick attached to one hand and a phone in the other, or if you pay more attention to your phone than to walking, then the iPhone 12 mini is not quite right for you. However, if you are not such a demanding user, iPhone 12mini I would definitely recommend you on the contrary. In the next part of this series, you will learn why I, as a visually impaired person, find the small phone suitable, and why the iPhone 12 mini is difficult to find fault with from the perspective of a visually impaired user.
