Controlling a device by touch for the blind is not difficult at all. You can use the iPhone without sight use really simple. But sometimes it's easier to say one voice command than to search for something on the screen. In this article, we'll show you how I use Siri as a blind person, and how it could make your life easier.

Although it seems impractical for Czech users, I use Siri to dial contacts. Not that I would call everyone this way, rather the most frequent contacts. There is a trick in Siri where you can assign labels to individual contacts such as mother, father, sister, brother, girlfriend/boyfriend and many others. After that, it is enough to say, for example "Call my girlfriend/boyfriend", if you want to call a girlfriend or boyfriend. You need Siri to add labels start and say the command to which family member or friend you want to call. So if you're calling your father, for example, say "Call my father". Siri will tell you that you don't have anyone saved like this and will ask you who your father is. You say the name of the contact, and if he doesn't understand you, you can easily write in the text field. Of course, you can save frequently used contacts to favorites, but if you want to call someone with Bluetooth headphones and you don't have your phone at hand, Siri is a really simple solution.

Another thing I like about Siri is that she can open any system settings and basically turn any feature on or off. When, for example, I want to quickly turn on Do Not Disturb mode, all I have to do is say the command "Turn on Do not disturb." Another great thing is setting alarms. It's really much easier said than done "Wake up me at 7 AM", than searching for everything in the app. You can also set a timer - if you want to turn it on for 10 minutes, you use the command "Set timer for 10 minutes". It's a bit of a shame that you simply can't use Siri to write down events and reminders in Czech, because as you probably know, Siri doesn't know Czech and "storing" notes or reminders in English isn't exactly ideal. Not because I don't understand English, but it bothers me when a Czech voice reads English content to me, for example, and the like.

Even though Siri loses a lot to competitors in the form of the Google assistant, its usability is definitely not bad and it will make work easier. I understand that not everyone likes to speak loudly on their phone, tablet or watch, but I have no problem with it and the voice assistant definitely saves me a lot of time.
