BlackBerry is ending support for its smartphones with its own OS

Although today's iPhones are some of the most popular smartphones on the market, around 2000 it was primarily BlackBerry phones that enjoyed great popularity among users. Although the company hasn't been making the phones themselves for a long time, it still offered support for them. And now it ends too. These are devices with the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 systems, on which even basic functions such as calls, SMS or receiving mobile data do not have to work as of January 4. This does not apply to Android devices.

Chinese suppliers

While Apple has long been associated with Foxconn as its primary product assembly partner, the news from The Information details Apple's newfound relationship with Chinese electronics manufacturers. Settlement of employee bag searches

The dispute dates back to 2013, when employees at Apple Stores complained that they had to wait an extra 10 to 15 minutes after their shifts ended to undergo bag searches and checks of their personal belongings to make sure they were not taking anything out of the store. Senior U.S. District Judge William Alsup granted prior consent with a $29,9 million settlement to be paid by Apple to 14 current and former employees who worked at 683 Apple stores in California from July 52 to December 2009.

Foxconn factory in South India

Apple ordered Foxconn suspend production in the Indian factory until they solve the problems with the living conditions in the dormitories there. 259 employees fell ill there, of which 17 had to be hospitalized, and the remaining almost 30 then stopped their work. At least four different government agencies then conduct their own on-site investigations into working conditions. Foxconn's defense is that to help meet demand, it ramped up iPhone production too quickly and therefore needed to have as many workers on site as possible. They operated here without flushing toilets and with spoiled food, where up to XNUMX people usually shared one room.
