It is true that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the most advanced iPhone ever, but it is also the most expensive. Not everyone will use all its functions, because for some it is enough to have less on the phone but more in the wallet. So take a look at how the basic iPhone 14 takes photos during the day. Maybe it will be enough for you if you get a telephoto lens.

This is exactly what the base model is significantly reduced on. It's not about LiDAR, but the ability to zoom in on the photographed scene is very useful, and in my personal opinion, even more so than zooming out. Moreover, when the ultra-wide-angle camera keeps erasing the sides of the photo. There is no point in thinking about digital zoom. That's five times as much, but such results are simply useless.

iPhone 14 (Plus) camera specifications

  • Main camera: 12 MPx, ƒ/1,5, OIS with sensor shift
  • Ultra wide angle camera: 12 MPx, ƒ/2,4
  • Front camera: 12 MPx, ƒ/1,9

Macro or ProRAW are also missing. You probably don't need the second mentioned at all, the first could be argued. Even the iPhone 14 knows how to play well with depth of field, so if you don't really need to take pictures of really close-up objects, it doesn't matter at all.

As for video, there is a movie mode that has learned 4K HDR at 24 or 30 fps. There is also an action mode, which delivers quite convincing photos. Apple has also worked on the front camera if you are a selfie lover. So the iPhone 14 is perfectly fine for ordinary photography, but if you want more, you have to dig deeper into your pocket.
