The portfolio of the iPad Pro series belongs to the top technological products on the tablet market. Especially if it is a 12,9" model with a mini-LED display and an M1 chip. If we are talking purely about hardware, how can such a device actually be improved? Wireless charging is offered as one of the ways. But there is a bit of a problem here.

We've been hearing about the iPad Pro (2022) bringing wireless charging for a long time. But this technical solution is not so simple. For charging to be effective, it must pass through the back of the device. With iPhones, Apple solves this with a glass back, but iPads are still aluminum, and the use of glass here presents considerable difficulties. One is weight, the other is durability. Such a large area is more susceptible to damage.

According to latest news but it looks like Apple has fixed it. He would hide the technology behind the rear logo, when glass (or plastic) could be just that. Of course, the MagSafe technology would be present around, for the ideal setting of the charger. However, this is a rather important fact, because if you put the tablet on the Qi charger, it will easily slide off it and the charging will not take place. You will of course be disappointed that charging is not taking place.

But the 12,9" iPad Pro only has 18W charging, which pushes energy into the 10758mAh battery for a really long time. Now imagine that Qi only provides 7,5 W in the case of iPhones. MagSafe is a bit better because it already has 15 W, but even so it is not a miracle. It logically follows from this that if Apple wants to come up with wireless charging in its flagship iPad, it should also provide it with MagSafe technology (2nd generation?), which would provide significantly faster charging. If we want to talk about fast charging, it is necessary to provide at least 50% of the battery capacity in about 30 minutes.

Competitors wireless charging

It might seem like the iPad Pro will be unique with wireless charging, but that's definitely not the case. The Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 was already able to do it, in 2019. When it provided straight 40W wired charging, and wireless charging was up to 27W. 7,5W reverse charging was also present. These values are also maintained by the current Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 released last year, when reverse charging was only increased to 10 W. Wireless charging is also offered by the Amazon Fire HD 10, although it can generally be said that there are indeed tablets with wireless charging like saffron, so even if Apple won't be the first with its iPad, it will still be among "one of the first".

In addition, the biggest competitor in the form of the Samsung model, i.e. the Galaxy Tab S7+ tablet, does not allow wireless charging, and it is not expected from its successor with the Galaxy S8 Ultra. However, the S7+ model already has 45W wired charging. Even so, Apple could gain a slight edge with the wireless one. In addition, the implementation of MagSafe is a logical step, and there is a lot to be gained from it, even with regard to various accessories.
