On October 1, 2013, T-Mobile launched the commercial operation of the LTE network in Prague and Mladá Boleslav. At the same time, the operator has significantly increased the coverage of the capital city - currently 26% of its territory is covered (the vast majority is the Prague 4 district) and 33% of its population. By the end of the year, roughly half of Prague's population should be covered. The further development of LTE is closely related to the results of the frequency auction.

"T-Mobile has the fastest 3G mobile network and wants to be a leader in 4G technology as well. We thoroughly tested the LTE network and the readiness of all our technologies before the commercial launch, and as the only Czech operator, we also successfully passed joint testing with Apple and its iPhone devices," said Milan Hába, director of category and product management at T-Mobile.

iPhone availability and support

LTE is made available to all T-Mobile customers who have an activated tariff including data, are located in a covered area and have a device that supports LTE technology. T-Mobile's LTE network is available for an ever-expanding range of smartphones (including voice calling), tablets and modems - such as the Sony Xperia Z and Z1, BlackBerry Q10, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, as well as the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s . The connection to LTE takes place completely automatically, without the need to log in as in the previous test operation. Downloaded data will start to count towards your data limit by default.

Speed

The maximum download speed of 100 Mb/s and upload speed of 37,5 Mb/s will be allowed for data plans and Mobile Internet packages of 10 GB and more and for S námi bez borín / S námi bez borín+ tariffs. The other new generation tariffs can achieve maximum speeds in the LTE network of 42 Mb/s for download and 5,76 Mb/s for upload.

SIM cards

Customers can use the LTE network with a regular SIM card. Older types of cards, however, need to be updated, which clients can request through the My T-Mobile service and the operator will do it remotely (applies to about 70% of cards). T-Mobile recommends owners of the oldest SIMs manufactured before 2003 to visit one of its branded stores, where they will replace the card free of charge.
