Press Release: Synology has announced the release of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 6.2 beta, including several packages. At the same time, Synology users are invited to try the latest software and become part of the development process of this version. "Synology is constantly following the needs of the market and business users, such as network security, data protection, disaster recovery, high-performance storage and productivity-enhancing applications," said Vic Hsu, CEO of Synology Inc. “Synology NAS devices not only provide network storage capacity, but also a powerful portfolio of application services for businesses.” Key new features of DSM 6.2 include:

Exceptional efficiency-enhancing storage technology

  • Storage manager: introducing a new Storage Manager component, Storage Pool, which offers high data consistency and convenient storage management. The new dashboard provides rich and useful information. Thanks to intelligent data scrubbing, you can prevent the gradual deterioration of data more easily and without much effort.
  • iSCSI Manager: a redesigned iSCSI management tool offering a new type of LUN with improved snapshotting technology based on the Btrfs file system allowing snapshots to be taken in seconds regardless of LUN size.

Maximize service availability with reliable failover plans

  • Synology High Availability: New mechanisms enable SHA technology to be set up and running within 10 minutes thanks to an improved user experience. With built-in and enhanced monitoring tools, IT administrators can easily monitor and maintain both active and passive servers.

Complete security protection during login and connection

  • Security Advisor: Security Advisor can use intelligent methods to detect unusual logins and analyze the attacker's location. If unusual login activities are detected, the DSM system will send an alert. With a single click, IT administrators can then view a daily or monthly report on the security control of the DSM system.
  • TLS/SSL profile level: Selecting the TLS/SSL profile level allows you to set your own TLS/SSL connection profile for individual network services. It offers users a more flexible way to configure their network security environment.

Optimized communication and seamless collaboration

  • Cat a Calendar: Chat introduces the long-awaited desktop app for Windows, MacOS and Linux. In addition to chat, it also offers features such as polls, bots, threading, and integration of third-party video conferencing applications. Calendar now allows you to attach files to events to centralize all relevant information, as well as allowing week numbering and keyboard shortcuts to easily view calendars.
