Synology introduces the Drive 2.0 service for collaboration on corporate files

Press Release: Synology today released Synology Drive 2.0, a major update to its cross-platform collaboration software that brings more flexibility with on-demand sync options and a more secure file sharing mechanism. This update includes new features for Synology Drive Server and corresponding clients for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and introduces Drive ShareSync, which allows multiple Synology NAS devices to be used as synchronized Drive Server clients.

Key features include:

File synchronization

• On-Demand Sync allows you to download files only on demand, reducing local storage usage and still keeping a fully synced folder up-to-date.
• Drive ShareSync can sync files between multiple NAS devices, making it easy to collaborate on files between workplaces.

Backing up your computer

• Back up files from your computer to your Synology NAS in real-time via the Drive desktop client immediately after making any changes.
• Schedule your computer backup job outside of peak network usage periods to avoid network traffic congestion.

File sharing

• Share files easily – Create a share link with a custom domain and other sharing options in just a few clicks.
• Intuitive Content Browsing – A PDF file viewer and document viewer are supported, allowing you to view shared files more intuitively.
• Secure Sharing Control - You can disable download and copy options to protect shared content.
