Among other things, Moments is the "first step" for your home NAS station.
Search between photos easily and quickly
Imagine a situation when friends come to visit you. You want to show off your photos from your holiday in Norway, so you simply type "Norway" into the search box. If you want to show your friends photos that only have you in them, you can type the keywords "Norway Pavel" into the search box and all of a sudden filtered vacation photos will appear, but only your face is on them.
Cooperation with other persons
Another absolutely amazing feature that Moments offers is the ability to collaborate on editing photos and albums. This function works very simply, you can unlock some of your albums and share it with authorized users, who can then add photos to the album together with you or edit them in various ways. This function is especially useful when you often plan trips with friends. If you have ever been on such a trip, you are certainly familiar with the situation when, after the end of the trip, photos from all the devices are put together. Usually, this process is quite tedious, but with Moments by Synology, you can simply share the album with the participants of the trip and let them add photos to the album one by one. You can then view photos and videos together virtually anywhere. Whether at home, on a friend's TV or on your smartphone. It just depends on the specific situation and where you are. However, you can be 100% sure that you still have the photos with you, even though they may actually be on the other side of the planet.
Moments on iOS
Now that we've covered the possibility of viewing photos on your mobile device, let's take a look at the Moments app for iOS. The application itself is of course very simple and intuitive, as Synology is used to. The Moments application will also be appreciated by users who own a phone with little storage. With Moments from Synology, you can simply upload all your photos directly to your server. Once uploaded, you can easily delete all the photos on your device, knowing that they're already safe on your home "NASC". This is how you can easily do it every day, especially when you are away from home and risk losing the photos on your device due to theft or destruction of the device. The feeling of security is great and there's nothing better than enjoying a good night's sleep knowing that the next day you won't lose one of the most precious things - your photo memories.
Using the Moments app on iOS is very simple. After turning on Moments for the first time, you will need to connect to Synology. After connecting, the application will ask you if you want to back up all the photos or only the ones you take from that moment on. After selection, all you have to do is allow access to photos, and if you have selected automatic backup of all photos, all photos will start to be sent to your Synology. In addition to photo backups, you can use the mobile application to view all photos anytime and anywhere (with an Internet connection), and if you do not have a strong enough signal, the application will download the photos in a lower resolution and thus ensure faster loading.

I personally had the opportunity to try the Moments application together with a new NAS server from Synology called Synology DS119j. I have to say for myself that this station really suits its size, especially for a home network. I had absolutely no problems with the combination of this server and the Moments app and everything worked absolutely flawlessly. I have personally tried several NAS stations from Synology as part of testing and I have to say that they are absolutely top notch. Synology proves both by the design of its products and at the same time by its simple use that it makes its products with love and tries to make the user 100% satisfied. For a very long time, I can't say a bad word about Synology products, and I'm very happy to return to NAS stations from Synology.
It would probably be good to write that the backup does not run in the background due to iOS limitations and it is necessary to leave the application running for the backup while the photos and videos are being backed up.
