The popular streaming service Netflix is now introducing a new option for its subscribers to secure their profile in the application with the help of a number lock. The move is part of a larger set of tweaks and updates that Netflix wants to make parental control features even better. Securing your own profile with a PIN code also serves to prevent others from using your profile without your knowledge or consent.

All accounts in the Netflix service are of course password protected, but individual profiles for other users can be set up within the account - for example, within a family where each of their members has their own profile within one account. It is now possible to secure these individual profiles with your own PIN code. Currently, PIN codes for individual accounts can only be set on Netflix in the web browser interface, but once they are set, profiles will be secured across all platforms, including your Apple devices.

As part of the parental control improvements, Netflix has introduced even more news. These include, for example, filtering titles based on accessibility ratings in a given region. This filtering is useful, for example, if you want to make a non-children's section of Netflix available to one of your children, but at the same time you do not want that person to have access to inappropriate content. For children's profiles within the Netflix account, you can now also deactivate the automatic playback function or block specific titles by title. To set up a PIN, sign in to your account on the Netflix website. In the upper right corner, click on your profile and select an option Account settings. In the settings of your own profile in the section Profile & Parental Controls then select Profile Lock and set your own Pin code.
