Press Release: The future successor to 4G LTE, the 5G network, should not only enable data transmission at almost "super-light speed" (100x faster than before), but above all help improve energy efficiency, the use of remotely controlled drones and AI, and serve to expand virtual reality and fully operationalize autonomous vehicles. After its commissioning, it should definitely ring the cables. Who has already tested it in pilot mode and where? And when will we see it in the Czech Republic?

5 years ago, something around was connected to the mobile network 5 billion devices, projected to be 2020 billion in 50. In addition, sensor and automatic control technology is constantly developing. The fact that it would be necessary to come up with a new and better mobile network was clear several years ago. And individual states and companies are already carefully preparing for this step.

According to CNN.com, a new generation is about to be launched mobile internet best prepared China. However, South Korea is hot on its heels, where 5G is already on its own skin tried, during the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The network has been used, for example, for live 360-degree broadcasts, in self-driving buses and, surprisingly, even in driving away wild pigs. The imaginary third place in readiness is held by the United States of America.

However, our domestic operators are not idle either. Companies O2 succeeded in auctioning a block of 203 MHz in the 40 GHz band for 3,7 million crowns in last year's frequency auction. Thanks to this, in terms of innovation, it has overtaken all its competitors. The new technology is now starting to be tested in real operation. T-Mobile is also doing the same. The operator teamed up with the well-known phone manufacturer Huawei and they did it together the most extensive test of Massive MIMO technology in continental Europe. It took place in the area of Prague's Petrovice.

According to the chairman of the board Czech Telecommunications Authority, Jaromír Novák, it can be assumed that even giants of the automotive industry, for example the company Škoda Auto based in Mladá Boleslav. After all, when the current 2012G network was put into operation in 4, this Central Bohemian city, through which the Jizera River flows, was the first to boast full coverage. In the Czech Republic, however, the introduction of the 5G network is currently blocked by insufficient infrastructure. To be able to transfer larger volumes that, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of optical networks to base stations. Nevertheless, the experts are optimistic and do not assume that we should be significantly behind the more economically developed countries with the implementation of super-fast Internet. We could already wait for the 5G network sometime in late June/July 2020, when the 700 MHz frequency, on which digital television broadcasts now operate, is to be released. With the fact that, at least initially, it will work simultaneously with 4G LTE.
