Nowadays, we can literally encounter all kinds of advertising at every turn, and of course our iPhones are no exception. A wide range of applications offers us various promotions, which are often directly personalized for our needs with the help of collecting personal data. Moreover, it is no secret that this is precisely what Facebook, for example, is doing on a large scale. But have you ever wondered which applications collect and share our personal data with third parties in this way, or on what scale? The answer to this question has now been brought by experts from pCloud, which is a cloud-based, encrypted storage.

In its analysis, the company focused on privacy labels on the App Store (Privacy labels), thanks to which she managed to create a list of applications, which is sorted by the percentage value of personal data collected, as well as data that is subsequently transferred to third parties. Can you guess which app was ranked number one? Before we answer that question, let's get some background information. Roughly 80% of all apps use user data to promote their own products within that program. Of course, it is also used to display your own discounted offers or to resell space to third parties who pay for the service.

Apple, on the other hand, promotes an emphasis on the privacy of its users:

The first two positions were occupied by the Facebook and Instagram applications, which are owned by the Facebook company. Both use 86% of users' personal data to show them personalized ads and offer their own products. Next up were Klarna and Grubhub, both with 64%, closely followed by Uber and Uber Eats, both with 57%. In addition, the range of collected data is really extensive and can be, for example, date of birth, which makes it easier for marketers to create advertising, or the time when we use the given program at all. For example, if we regularly turn on Uber Eats on Fridays around 18 p.m., Uber immediately knows when it is best to target us with personalized advertising.

At the same time, more than half of all applications share our personal data with third parties, while we again do not have to argue about the occupation of the first two bars. Again, it is Instagram with 79% of the data and Facebook with 57% of the data. Thanks to this, what subsequently happens is that we can view, for example, an iPhone on one platform, while on the next we will be shown relevant advertisements for it. To make the entire analysis not only negative, the pCloud company also pointed to applications from a completely different end, which, on the contrary, collect and share the absolute minimum, including 14 programs that do not collect any data. You can see them on the picture attached above.
