It's been about a month since Eddy Cue confirmed at the SXSW festival that Apple Music streaming service crossed the 38 million mark paying users. After less than thirty days, Apple has another reason to celebrate, but this time it's much bigger. The American server Variety came up with information (which is allegedly confirmed directly by Apple) that the Apple Music service surpassed the goal of 40 million paying customers last week.

Apple Music has really been doing well in recent months. The number of subscribers is growing at a very rapid pace, but see for yourself: last June, Apple boasted that 27 million users subscribe to their streaming service. They managed to cross the 30 million mark last September. At the beginning of February, it was already about 36 million and less than a month ago it was the already mentioned 38 million.

In the last month, the service registered the largest monthly increase in subscribers since the beginning of its operation (ie since 2015), when it managed to surpass the statistics from the beginning of this year even more. In addition to these 40 million customers, Apple Music is currently testing another 8 million users in one of the offered trial modes. Compared to its biggest competitor, Spotify, Apple still lacks. The last published information regarding Spotify's paying users comes from the end of February and talks about 71 million customers (and 159 million active accounts). However, these are global numbers, in the domestic market (i.e. in the USA) the difference is not big at all and it is even expected that Apple Music will overtake Spotify in the next few months.
