In recent months, there have been reports that Apple intends to invest heavily in coming up with some of its own and original video content next year. In the long term, the company would like to compete with services such as Neflix or Amazon Prime Video, but it doesn't have anything yet. Two projects this year, Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps, were (or are) more of a flop than a brilliant success. However, this should change from next year. And the famous director Steven Spielberg should also help with this.

Apple has reportedly earmarked up to a billion dollars to create its own content for next year. And one of the projects for which this money will go will be the reboot of the famous series from the 80s, which was behind Steven Spielberg. These are Amazing Stories, in Czech, Nebečerívé příbědy (CSFD profile here). The popular series from the 80s abroad originally received two series, although it was not a standard of quality. However, according to information from the Wall Street Journal, Spielberg has signed a contract with Apple, and thanks to it, he will shoot ten new episodes over the next year. A budget of $5 million should be set aside for each, which is certainly not a small amount of money.

The WSJ report brings even more information about the fact that, in addition to new projects, Apple is also preparing its own playback infrastructure, which it wants to directly compete with, for example, Netflix. No more specific information is known yet, but this step seems logical. If Apple is really going to launch its own entertainment business in the field of movies and series, streaming through Apple Music will not be an ideal solution. So we (hopefully) have something to look forward to next year.
