If you've ever been at least slightly interested in the history of Apple, you certainly know that the legendary Steve Jobs was not the only person who founded the Apple company. In 1976, this company was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. While Jobs has been dead for several long years, Wozniak and Wayne are still with us. A cure for immortality or the suspension of aging has not yet been invented, so each of us keeps getting older and older. Even Steve Wozniak, who celebrates his 11th birthday today, August 2020, 70, has not escaped aging. In this article, let's quickly reminisce about Wozniak's life so far.

Steve Wozniak, known by the nickname Woz, was born on August 11, 1950, and immediately after his birth, a small mistake occurred. Wozniak's first name is "Stephan" on his birth certificate, but this was allegedly a mistake according to his mother - she wanted the name Stephen with an "e". So Wozniak's full birth name is Stephan Gary Wozniak. He is the oldest descendant of the family and his surname has its roots in Poland. Wozniak spent his childhood in San José. As for his education, after studying at Homestead High School, which Steve Jobs also attended, he began studying at the University of Colorado in Boulder. However, he was later forced to leave this university for financial reasons and transfer to De Anza Community College. However, he did not finish his studies and decided to devote himself to practice and his profession. He initially worked for the Hawlett-Packard company and at the same time developed the Apple I and Apple II computers. He then completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkley.

Wozniak worked at Hawlett-Packard from 1973 to 1976. After his departure from Hawlett-Packard in 1976, he founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne, which he was a part of for 9 years. Despite the fact that he left the Apple company, he continues to receive a salary from it, for representing the Apple company. After leaving Apple, Wozniak devoted himself to his new project CL 9, which he founded with his friends. Later he devoted himself to teaching and charitable events related to education. You could see Wozniak, for example, in the films Steve Jobs or Pirates of Silicon Valley, he even appeared in the fourth season of the series The Big Bang Theory. Woz is considered a computer engineer and philanthropist. You might also be interested to know that a street in San José, Woz Way, is named after him. On this street is the Children's Discovery Museum, which Steve Wozniak has supported for many years.

His greatest success was undoubtedly the mentioned Apple II computer, which completely changed the world computer industry. The Apple II had a MOS Technology 6502 processor with a clock frequency of 1 MHz, and a RAM memory of 4 KB. The original Apple II was later improved, for example 48 KB of RAM was available, or a floppy drive. Bigger improvements came later, with additional naming. Specifically, it was later possible to purchase Apple II computers with Plus, IIe, IIc and IIGS or IIc Plus add-ons. The latter had a 3,5" diskette drive (instead of 5,25") and the processor was replaced by a WDC 65C02 model with a clock frequency of 4MHz. Sales of Apple II computers began to decline in 1986, the IIGS model was supported until 1993. Some Apple II models were actively used until 2000, currently these machines are very rare and fetch high sums at auction.
