Every time I start this game, I remember the association with the film tetralogy Pirates of the Caribbean or the very well-known game Assassin's Creed. The fact is that I am not so far from the truth, and the game from the developers of Ubisoft Assassin's Creed Pirates combines elements from both works, the film and the game.

I remember the time of my childhood when my boys and I used to play all kinds of heroes and characters from movies. At that time, there was no Pirates of the Caribbean, so my favorite movie was always Black Corsair, which seemed to fall out of Alonzo Battil's eye, who is the main captain and character in the game Assassin's Creed Pirates. Like the film's Black Corsair, Alonzo sails the Caribbean islands on his galley, fighting pirates and searching for La Busea's treasure. He has a brave crew at his disposal, which he can recruit or sell in various ways.

At the beginning of the entire game, you can watch a short cinematic intro that introduces you to the entire story of the game, and then you find yourself as the captain of one of the galleys sailing between the islands and gradually uncovering other parts of the map and its dark corners. Assassin's Creed Pirates has a very long gameplay and, above all, a high-quality graphic page with interesting effects. Your main task is to steer the ship and fight pirates or complete short missions. For each battle won or task completed, you will always receive various properties, such as money, wood, pieces of maps or parchment with the next part of the story, and all this can then be used for various improvements, whether it is a ship or buying a new crew and more.

I was especially pleased with the control of the ship and, in fact, with the overall intuitive gameplay, which you can easily get into within a few minutes of playing. You can steer your galley from different angles, you can choose different degrees of speed, controlled for example by the tension of the sails. With your ship, you navigate a map of 20 square kilometers, with other parts gradually revealed to you. It follows that there is a very noticeable discovery mode in the game, where you get more missions, Captain Batilla's level increases, and more ships to buy and with a crew.

Individual missions and tasks could be divided into different categories. Whether it's a race against time, sneaking out of sight of enemies, searching for treasures with binoculars or liberating beacons. At the same time, in each of these types of missions, you will always come across an enemy ship that you have to sink. At the beginning you will only have one cannon, a gun and a kind of chain with explosives. During each fight, the game switches to 2D mode, where you have to simultaneously protect your ship with evasive maneuvers forward or backward, fire your weapon at the exact moment and wait until the enemy sinks.

The entire game is accompanied by a story that you may or may not follow. Here you will find various embedded videos, scenes of sinking ships or short dialogues and exchanges of opinions. You only need one finger to control the whole game, because, as already said, the game is very easy to control.

As you explore the map and catch the sea air, the pirates will sing you great songs that will stick in your memory after a short while, humming them while you're doing something else entirely. As part of the App of the Week, the game is currently completely free. Count on the larger size, which is exactly 866 MB, and depending on the type of device, you will either enjoy smooth gameplay with beautiful effects and graphics, or just a relaxed game that lags a little here and there. I personally tested the game on a first generation iPad mini, but I also ran it on the new iPhone 5S, and the difference was noticeable, as with all games of this type.
