This is what the developer studio EA (Electronics Arts) has done, which is giving away the very popular title The Sims 4. It is available for free for users with Windows and macOS systems.
The Sims 4 debuted in 2014, but back then it was only available for Windows PCs. The game was ported to macOS a year later. In recent years, EA has supplemented it with a number of expansions and data discs, but now it is giving away its original version, which normally costs $40 (approximately CZK 920).

EA offers the title through its own platform Origin. To get it, you must first create an Origin account - of course, provided that you have not already done so in the past. The whole process can be done on the respective pages. But you can also buy The Sims 4 through the Origin client. However, it needs to be downloaded and installed in order to play the game.
