The London company Nothing does not yet have a wide portfolio. So far, it has offered two models of TWS headphones for one smartphone, but a third was added yesterday. The Nothing Ear (2) are clearly up against the 2nd generation AirPods Pro, as well as Samsung's Galaxy Buds2 Pro. In both cases, however, they score with a lower price.

Ear (2) are the logical successor of the first model, whose design they also successfully adopt. The situation here is actually the same as with AirPods Pro, where you can hardly tell the two generations apart. It's really just details, because all the improvements happen inside. Like the 2nd generation AirPods Pro, the Ear (2) features active noise cancellation. However, in its solution, Nothing adapts the ANC to the shape of the user's ear. Of course, there is also a throughput mode, which is supposed to adjust the noise reduction according to the environment in real time, which is what the AirPods also do.

In terms of sound quality, Nothing has added Hi-Res Audio certification and LHDC 5.0, which is a low-latency audio codec that is simply meant to provide better sound. There's also an 11,6mm driver and a dual-chamber design for better sound quality and "smoother airflow". We can't confirm it yet, but foreign reviews generally agree that the 2nd generation AirPods Pro still play better. The maximum frequency response is 20 Hz for both, the minimum is 000 Hz for Ear (2), 5 Hz for AirPods.

Because the Ear (2) are designed for both iPhones and Android devices, they logically cannot take full advantage of the customization that Apple offers its AirPods. In the case of use with iOS, there is no immediate pairing (but quick pairing is present with Android and Windows), automatic switching of devices and, unfortunately, surround sound. On the other hand, you will find here at least the Dual Connection function, which connects the headphones to two devices at the same time, a personal sound profile and Clear Voice technology for better call quality. The aforementioned customization is something that AirPods do not offer.

Nothing Ear (2) lasts for 4,5 hours of playback with ANC on, 6 hours with ANC off, and together with the charging case offer 36 hours of listening time with ANC off. In the case of the 2nd generation AirPods, these values are 5,5 hours, 6 hours and 30 hours. Both cases can be charged wirelessly. The novelty offers Bluetooth 5.3, Apple's solution only Bluetooth 5. But directly on company website you can buy Nothing Ear (2) for CZK 3, while Apple's 699nd generation AirPods cost twice as much, namely CZK 2.
