As part of the Galaxy Unpacked event in August, Samsung introduced the second generation of its "professional" TWS headphones, the Galaxy Buds Pro. As Apple is now expected to launch the second generation of AirPods Pro, it has clearly outstripped it. We have now got our hands on this new product and can compare it accordingly.

Now it is more about the design language of the individual manufacturers, because it is still too early to evaluate the quality of their music performance, even though it is evident that both models are among the top in their segment.

Samsung just won't be trendy

The first AirPods set a trend that subsequently led to the consumption of music primarily from mobile phones. Gone are the cables and the wireless headphones got a new design where they don't even have to be connected to each other by a cable. These truly wireless headphones became a hit, even though they weren't cheap and the quality of their music transmission wasn't worth much - mainly because of their construction, as the buds don't seal the ear like earplugs.

It was the Pro model, which is still based on the design of the first generation of AirPods with their characteristic foot, that took listening to music to a new level. Precisely because it is a plug design, they are able to properly seal the ear, and Apple could also provide them with technology such as active noise cancellation along with permeability mode or 360-degree sound.

Since the AirPods Pro were also a success, of course the competition wanted to benefit from them as well. Samsung, as Apple's biggest rival, started to develop its own after the success of the American company's headphones. And while it might seem like the South Korean manufacturer is borrowing more than just technology, it wasn't. Samsung has thus taken its design path and it cannot be said that it is completely wrong. It has only one flaw.

It's also about the size

You can recognize AirPods in people's ears at first glance. It may be some copies, but they are simply based on the design of AirPods. Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Galaxy Buds Live have their own design, which does not refer to Apple's solution in any way. Even though they are technologically very advanced headphones, which we will compare in the next article, they lose in terms of design. This is because they are too sedentary.

Yes, they are decent and inconspicuous, unless you choose purple. They don't have a stem or design quirks like the Sony LinkBuds. And that's why few people remember them. The company packed all the technology into the entire headphone module without the need for a stem connector. On the one hand, it is commendable, on the other hand, it is a somewhat boring solution.

Galaxy Buds fill your ear, which may not be comfortable for many. But there are also those who simply fall out of their ears with any size of AirPods Pro. With the new generation, Samsung has shrunk their body by 15% while maintaining the same durability. This is exactly what we would expect from Apple. The smaller handset also weighs less and can therefore sit much more comfortably.

Where are the replacement attachments?

If you have a box in height or width, it doesn't really matter. From the logic of carrying earphones in your pocket, Apple's solution is better, but opening the box on the table is rather ill-conceived, so Samsung leads here again. The packaging of the product itself clearly wins with AirPods. Its box contains a dedicated space for ear buds. After unboxing the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, you might think that Samsung forgot about their different sizes. You will only find them when you go to charge the headphones. In addition, the packaging of spare attachments is to unpack it once, throw it away, and put the attachments in a bag aside. With Apple, you can always return them in their original packaging, whether it's in the box or anywhere else.
