The fierce competition between Apple and Spotify continues. The world's largest music streaming service is retaliating against artists who provide their work exclusively to Apple Music, threatening lesser-known artists performing on Beats 1 online radio. Bloomberg referring to insider sources.

Apple Music has become a dangerous rival to Spotify since its launch. Even though the user base of the Swedish streaming platform is still significantly more numerous, the young service from California is growing rapidly, and Spotify's biggest wrinkle is precisely the exclusivity of albums from world-famous artists. Apple has names like Drake, Chance the Rapper and Frank Ocean under its wings. Spotify is just getting to know the exclusive concept of music content, which is why the company under the leadership of Daniel Ek has reportedly decided to take a rather unethical step.

According to unnamed sources, Spotify is to remove from its featured playlists all artists who have an exclusive music release deal with its arch-rival from Cupertino. Furthermore, they also try to make their works less accessible and harder to find.

However, it is unlikely that such a decision would seriously damage the world artist. They already have their fans and if someone really wants their music, they will find it on Spotify without it being really visible. However, a certain problem threatens for beginning musicians, specifically for individuals working on Beats 1 radio, which is part of Apple Music.

Spotify is also said to use its unfair practices against those who will promote their music on the show moderated by Zan Lowe. Apparently, they shouldn't get any support from the Swedes after that, which would be a big problem for young and budding artists. Nowadays, the start of a career is also fixed on streaming services, and facing a restriction from the largest platform in the world would not be a promising start. Bloomberg also cites an example where a certain musician refused to play on Beats 1 for fear that he might not appear on Spotify.

The management of the Swedish streaming giant also reacted to the whole event. For the server MacRumors said it was an "unequivocal lie".
