Spotify boasted another milestone passed. As of last June, it managed to cross the 108 million paying customers mark and still maintains a more than comfortable global lead against Apple Music.

The last time Spotify reported on the number of its subscribers was in April, when the company crossed the 100 million paying users mark. In less than two months, the number of subscribers increased by more than 8 million, which is a very decent growth.

In total, more than 232 million users use the service, which includes both paid and unpaid accounts. The total number of users increased by almost 30% year-on-year. Despite the negative outlook of recent months, it looks like Spotify is doing relatively well. At least in terms of maintaining the upward trend in the number of users.

In contrast, Apple Music surpassed 60 million paying users in June. However, the user base is far more centralized, with roughly half of those 60 million coming from the US. The US is also the only country where Apple Music is more popular than the competing service. At the end of this year, the difference in the American market was roughly two million users in favor of Apple Music.

Apple-Music-vs-Spotify

Spotify currently believes that it will be able to reach the goal of 125 million users by the end of this year. If the service maintains its current level of growth, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. How are you doing? Do you prefer Apple Music or do you prefer using Spotify services?
