The rivalry between Spotify and Apple Music has been intensifying recently, largely due to the fact that Apple is becoming a bigger competitor for the Swedish streaming service. Even so, Spotify, whose base currently numbers around 190 million users, is the largest in the world. However, if Spotify wants to maintain its privileged position in the future, it must be available on all platforms. And it seems that it is now finally the turn of Apple Watch users as well.

Basically, since Apple Watch sales started in 2015, their owners have been calling for Spotify in a watchOS version. However, only now, after several years of waiting, have things started to move. Indeed, on Reddit discovered contributions from users who are involved in Spotify's public beta test through TestFlight, and according to which the latest version brings Apple Watch support. The proof is then several screenshots that capture the interface of the application.

Spotify for watchOS is similar to Apple Music in many ways. From the published images, it is clear that the emphasis was placed on simplicity and clarity during development, which is definitely a welcome benefit. However, the functionality of the application as such is quite limited for now. According to users, it is not possible to download songs for offline listening, and there is also a lack of optimization for the larger displays of the new Apple Watch Series 4. But both should change before the arrival of the sharp version.

Exactly when Spotify plans to release the app to all users is an open question for now. The representatives of the service do not want to reveal any details and only said that they always test all new features first. One way or another, it is confirmed that Spotify will indeed arrive on watchOS Watch.
