The music streaming service Spotify is also very popular among users of Apple products, even though Apple offers its own Music. However, one of Spotify's biggest drawbacks for many people was that it didn't offer an app for the Apple Watch. However, that should change soon.
Developer Andrew Chang decided some time ago to solve the situation with the non-existent Spotify client for Watch by creating it himself. From this, the application was born Spotty, later due to the Swedish firm's copyright objections and the format with the official Spotify app renamed to Snowy.
Neither does the app Snowy however, Spotify did not get into the App Store due to developer negotiations, so users of the music service on their watches were out of luck. Andrew Chang however now on Reddit he announced happy news.
“I'm excited to announce that I will be working closely with Spotify to release Snowy for Apple Watch as part of the official Spotify iOS app,” said Chang. "Spotify's developer tools made it possible to develop Snowy, but I can't wait to take the app to the next level with Spotify's experience and tools."
Chang didn't reveal anything specific, such as a release date, but given that his Spotify client should be more or less ready for release, it shouldn't take too long. The Snowy application was supposed to be able to control both classic music and also support Siri and various complications, and at the same time save songs for offline listening.
It is not clear to what extent Spotify will intervene in the development of the watch application, however, it is positive that the Swedes decided to cooperate with an active developer instead of a legal battle, which will ultimately benefit mainly the users of the service.
it would be great if Siri could also control spotify on ios. We recently uninstalled apple music because of spotify, and wonder of the world, since then Siri can't even increase the volume on the headphones. Sometimes Apple really knows how to act like a nice beast... :(
I would report it as a BUG because it doesn't work ;-). With a possible rejection, I would write to the largest American Apple like servers and make it a hello ;-).
The first thing we did was when I found out that it wasn't working, so I googled it and found lots of discussions where people were solving it, so imo it's just not a coincidence and if they wanted to, they could have removed it a long time ago. I myself have already written an email to apple asking if I can return the AW, iP 7 and headphones, because they don't work as described everywhere :) But seriously, at one time we all cursed MS for the ubiquitous MS Explorer, which tried to eliminate the competition, this seems exactly the same to me and it's really very sad.
This does not seem very similar to Apple, because I can increase the volume because of a lot of other things. And doing such things willingly, I've never seen that before. And for that money, I won't just forgive them ;-).
By the way, when you have AW, you can't put it out loud, can you?
well, this whole article was about Spotify and AW :) It's just that now Spotify doesn't work on AW :( I go for a run and I have a heart monitor (Scosche) paired to AW, I have spotify and airpods on my iP7. I would like to put everything on AW, but for now it's really it doesn't work. When I install Music, I can use Siri to control music on spotify including the volume just fine. When I uninstall Music, it can't do anything at all. There is not the slightest mention anywhere on the apple website that Siri is tied to Music, but it still requires it.
I don't have an AW, I'm not good at it, I have (for now) a Garmin Vivoactive watch. There it is:
I play Spotify on my iPhone. I connect the iPhone with headphones and with a watch.
I then use the watch to control volume (+ / -), next / previous track, pause and play. I don't need Vic.
So, if a watch from another manufacturer can do it on an iPhone, I'd be quite surprised that AW couldn't do it, right?
you would have to have it on AW Spotify, otherwise you can't control it :(
I already have such a bluetooth module for my headphones, and with that I make the wired headphones wireless and it works for me there too ;-).
It doesn't matter what application I'm in, Spotify, system or game. It works everywhere. And it doesn't matter if I have headphones connected via bluetooth or a cable. All combinations work for me.
I'd rather try it so I don't talk :-).
Am I understanding correctly that Spotify can't be controlled by the watch at all now?
It goes. But only to a very limited extent. It is possible to skip tracks, pause, like tracks, control the volume. But that's all. It is no longer possible to select a specific song or playlist, save music to the watch, etc.
