The end of last week in the IT world was mainly marked by news and improvements to various applications and services. Microsoft, for example, added a number of interesting innovations to its Teams platform in January, while Spotify was granted a patent for an interesting technology for analyzing the mood of users, which is why they will most likely be eavesdropping on them. At the end of today's article, we invite you to the Steam Game Festival online event.

New features of MS Teams

At the end of last week, Microsoft came up with a summary of all the interesting news that users can expect in its Teams communication platform. One of the key areas of January's improvements is chat and team collaboration. For example, a new tool for managing request approvals has been added - approvals will now be able to be created, managed and shared directly in the Microsoft Teams environment, while the tool offers compatibility with all supported platforms including Dynamics 365, Power Automate or even SharePoint. Dynamics 365, which is an integral part of the Microsoft ecosystem, allows users to manage company processes, such as customer relationship management (CRM), operations management (ERP), or data analysis.

A new function has also been added to the Teams platform, within the framework of which, in the event of going offline, a message queue will be created, which will then be automatically sent as soon as the user is connected to the Internet again. Users can also create a new shared calendar with quick access to all scheduled meetings and the possibility of automatically sent notifications. Chat moderators can now also assign other participants the opportunity to participate before, during and after the meeting. Teams also received security updates and a handful of new features for versions used by education, frontline workers or government employees.

New algorithm in Spotify

Spotify has registered a patent that will be able to use artificial intelligence to predict a listener's "emotional state, gender, age or accent" after listening to their conversations. The relevant patent application was already filed three years ago, and the patent describes, among other things, "identification of taste attributes based on an audio signal". It should be a system that, based on the analysis of intonation, rhythm and other parameters, draws a conclusion whether the user is happy, angry, sad, or in a neutral mood. Spotify says the information collected should be practically no different from what the app already collects based on listening, searching, or favorite tracks and albums. "It's quite common for media streaming apps to include features that provide users with personalized recommendations," said Spotify in this context.

Expectations for Final Fantasy VII

Producer Yoshinori Kitase stated during this year's CEDEC + Kyushu Online that the second part of the remake of the cult title Final Fantasy VII will exceed the expectations of all players. For now, the game is still in development, and its creators say that the developers really want to care about it a lot. Another of the creators, Naoki Hamaguchi, said that there is a new team of developers working on the game, whose members have brought a lot of new ideas to improve the game's action combat system. The release of the second part of Final Fantasy VII Remake is still in sight, but according to available reports, players could still wait for the version of the first part for PlayStation 5 during the first half of this month. The game Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently available in the version for the game console PlayStation 4 worldwide.

The Steam Game Festival is coming up

In the middle of this week, an event called the Steam Game Festival will break out on the Steam gaming platform. From Wednesday, players will have playable demo versions of more than five hundred upcoming games from independent developers, they will be able to watch live broadcasts with chat options, or participate in various panel discussions. The Steam Game Festival was first held concurrently with The Game Awards in December 2019. In the video trailer for this year's event, we had the opportunity to see footage from the titles Genesis Noir by Feral Cat Den, The Riftbreaker by Exor Studios or even Narita Boy by Studio Koba .
