A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow morning in New York, during which DJI is expected to introduce something new. The original trailers made it clear that it would be a new drone, most likely a successor to the popular Mavic Pro model. This afternoon, photos and information hit the web, which make tomorrow's unveiling pointless, as some images and above all specifications have been leaked. It really is a new drone and it really is Mavic series. However, the Pro moniker is disappearing and being replaced by Air.

If you're waiting for tomorrow's event, probably don't read the following lines, because it's one big spoiler. If you don't care, read on. During tomorrow's conference, DJI will present the new Mavic Air drone, which is based on the Mavic Pro. It will have a 32-megapixel camera with panoramic mode, foldable legs (like the Mavic Pro), the ability to record 4k video (framerate is not yet confirmed), a three-axis gimbal, sensors for avoiding/overcoming obstacles in the front, back and sides, VPS support (Visual Positioning System), gesture control, a flight time of 21 minutes and a chassis in several colors (black, white and red are known so far).

According to the information mentioned above, it looks like a hybrid between Mavic Pro and Spark. The exact specifications of the sensor are not yet known, nor what the range of the new product will be, if in this case it leans more towards the Spark (up to 2km) or the Mavic (up to 7km). The new Mavic Air will definitely not have a quieter version of the propellers. As it seems, DJI could target with this model those for whom the Spark is rather just a toy and the Mavic Pro is no longer a "professional" drone. It is also very possible that DJI will move the price limits of individual products so that the new layout makes more sense. In the ideal case, we will see a discount on the Spark and the new Mavic Air will go somewhere between it and the Pro version. What do you think about the news?
