We're halfway through the first week of the new year, and it seems the tech giants are stopping at nothing. Although the pandemic has really shaken other industries, it is multinational corporations that benefit the most from this situation and try to use it to their advantage. This is, among other things, the case of the space company SpaceX, which does not procrastinate too much with space flights, and although it might seem that it will take a break after Christmas at least for a while, the opposite is true. Elon Musk has taken a liking to deep space and is sending one rocket after another there, another one will go into orbit this Thursday, among other things. Meanwhile, Amazon is buying delivery planes to deliver goods more efficiently, and Verizon is trying to offer ultra-fast connections to low-income families.

The Falcon 9 rocket took a short break. Now he's heading for the stars again

Who would have expected it. Even last year, we reported almost on a daily basis about SpaceX's space flights, and somehow we expected that Elon Musk would resort to a short-term break with the arrival of the new year. However, this did not happen and the visionary, on the contrary, is trying to break the record from the previous year and is sending one rocket after another into orbit. The most famous one, Falcon 9, will head into space already this Thursday, and it won't be just any mission. Unlike at the end of last year, it will not be a simple test, but a long-term result of the cooperation between SpaceX and Turkey, which is requesting the space agency to send a special Turksat 5A satellite.

But don't worry, it won't be a super-secret space satellite, but a way to expand broadcast coverage and offer a new generation of satellite connection that will ensure a more stable signal and, above all, greater customer protection. As in previous years, this time too the whole mission will be supported by a special drone ship with the ingenious name "Just Read the Instructions", which is parked in the Atlantic Ocean. This is more or less routine and the flight can be expected to go smoothly. In any case, it will be an interesting spectacle, as the spacecraft will launch on Thursday night.

Amazon has leaned heavily on investments. They will buy another 11 special aircraft for the delivery of goods

The pandemic is playing into the hands of the gigantic Amazon online store. The company is growing like never before, its revenue has multiplied, and it seems that CEO Jeff Bezos is definitely not afraid to invest these funds. It has been known for a long time that Amazon has several dozen special planes that are responsible for the delivery of goods and can efficiently move across the United States. Still, that's not enough for the tech giant, and Amazon is reportedly investing in 11 more planes that will come primarily from Boeing's hangar. It was this type that proved to be the most reliable and fastest.

The infrastructure in the form of Amazon Air will thus grow by another 11 additions and offer greater coverage of individual states as well as the absence of the need to use highways and other, less efficient delivery methods. After all, the purchase of airplanes turned out to be the decisive aspect, thanks to which Amazon simply has the upper hand and can gracefully reach across the entire United States in a few hours without the risk of customers having to wait longer than they are used to for their goods. It can thus be expected that the giant will gradually expand its fleet. Among other things, this step will facilitate delivery using drones and other methods that rely on air transport.

Verizon will offer ultra-fast connections to low-income families as part of a special program

One of the largest Internet providers in the United States, Verizon, launched a rather ambitious plan in the middle of last year, which aimed to provide the fastest possible connection to as many customers as possible. However, it turned out that many people cannot afford super fast connections, so the company came up with a solution. The special Fios Forward program is targeted at low-income families who often use the government's Lifeline program, which contributes to everyday expenses and essentials such as food, tariff and, of course, internet. And it is these families who can now take advantage of extended support in the form of special offers.

For just $20 a month, low-income users can use the Fios Forward program and receive a connection with a speed of 200 megabits per second. In addition, if interested, they can upgrade to a higher plan in the form of 400 Mb/s, which will cost them $40 per month. The government program will then pay half of this amount for those interested, so for less than 200 crowns a month, people all over the United States will have access to an above-standard fast connection, both in the form of a wireless signal and an optical network, when Verizon will also provide them with a home router and involvement in the infrastructure. This is definitely a great step forward and an unprecedented step in today's uncertain times to ensure a stable connection for almost everyone.
