The combination of the Wild West and space looks really wild, but in the performance of the excellent shooter Space Marshals, in a few minutes you will think that it is quite common for a marshal to fight against alien enemies with a cowboy hat on his head.

The combination of two genres, western and sci-fi, is done really perfectly in the new game from the studio Pixelbite, and after reading the following review, the iPhones and iPads of many of you will surely be occupied by the main character Bart, with whom you will face the worst villains in the top-down shooter space.

Space Marshals, as we could translate the name of the game, is set in a future where it is possible to travel from planet to planet without problems. The story begins with the journey of space marshals transporting prisoners. But their ship is attacked and the villains disappear. At that moment, you find yourself in the role of Marshal Bart and you have the task of finding and neutralizing the escaped bandits.

The entire story is divided into several missions, each with a slightly different task. Sometimes you'll have to free your friends, other times you'll have to shoot your way to the boss himself and neutralize him, or use a combination of clever ambushing and getting access keys to get to the spaceship.

For these tasks, Marshal Bart is always armed with a one-handed and two-handed weapon and two types of grenades or other "throwing" material. The controls are quite simple, so it does not prevent you from fully enjoying the atmosphere of Space Marshals while playing. On the left side of the display you control the movement, on the right your weapon (can be thrown), you don't need more. Tap the display to crouch and enter the so-called "sneak" mode.

Then the success of the mission depends on your chosen tactics. Individual missions always take place in a different environment, but we always find a combination of western and alien buildings and characters. Great 3D graphics and great music push the shooter a little higher. In the game itself, you will find everything you would expect from a similar event that you are watching from above the whole time.

In addition to killing enemies who are armed differently, you can collect lives along the way, recharge your weapons, but also look for hidden hints that will improve your overall score. There are also various instant enhancements such as invisibility or the need to find a card to open various doors, which the most dangerous villains usually have with them.

When you complete all the tasks and successfully return to the base, each mission is scored based on how many times you were killed during it, how many designated high priority targets you eliminated, etc. Then you can always choose a bonus item accordingly - a new hat, a vest, rifle, grenade and much more.

The developers really had no shortage of ideas when coming up with a fresh western space world and ways to eliminate the enemy. At the moment, the only complaint is that only the first chapter of the story is available. Pixelbite promises that there will be two more to come, and if both are free, then the higher price will be completely justified. However, the developers have not yet decided on the price of the following chapters. If you like top-down shooters with strategic elements, then definitely give Space Marshals a try.
