In today's installment of our regular weekly roundup of speculation, this time we'll be looking at the possible return of Force Touch technology. In the course of the past week, a patent application appeared, which indicates that we could possibly expect Apple products equipped with a new, improved generation of this technology in the future. We will also talk about the features of the upcoming iPad Pro, which, according to some sources, should see the light of day this fall.

Is Force Touch Coming Back?

Apple has put its Force Touch technology – also known as 3D Touch – on ice, with the exception of trackpads on MacBooks. The latest news from the past week, however, indicate that we could perhaps look forward to its return, or rather to the arrival of the second generation of Force Touch. According to newly published patents, the new generation of Force Touch could appear, for example, in Apple Watch, iPhone and MacBooks.

This is what the next MacBooks could look like:

The US Patent Office published several patent applications filed by Apple on Thursday. Among other things, the mentioned patent applications describe a special type of pressure-responsive sensors, and these sensors should be intended for "devices of smaller dimensions" - it could be, for example, an Apple Watch or even AirPods. Thanks to new technologies, it should be possible to achieve very small dimensions for the respective Force Touch components, which greatly expands the possibilities of their practical use.

Features of the upcoming iPad Pro

According to some sources, Apple should launch a new generation of its popular iPad Pro this fall. Analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg also leans towards this theory, and in his latest newsletter entitled "Power On", he decided to focus on future iPad Pros in a little more detail. According to Gurman, the arrival of the new iPad Pro could happen between September and November this year.

Mark Gurman in his newsletter in connection with the upcoming iPad Pro further stated, for example, that they should have MagSafe charging, and Apple should fit them with an M2 chip. According to Gurman, it should offer eight CPU cores and 9 to 10 GPU cores, and should be manufactured using a 4nm process.
