Change of priorities for AR/VR headset

Apple has reportedly shelved its plan to release lighter augmented reality glasses in favor of an as-yet-unannounced, more robust mixed reality headset. Apple's augmented reality glasses, often referred to as "Apple Glass", were said to be similar to Google Glass. Glasses should overlay digital information while not obstructing the user's view of the real world. There has been silence on the sidewalk regarding this product for some time, while there has been quite a lot of speculation regarding the VR/AR headset. Bloomberg reported this week that he had delayed the development and subsequent release of the lightweight glasses, citing technical difficulties.

The company has reportedly scaled back work on the device, and some employees have hinted that the device may never be released. While Apple Glass may not see the light of day at all, Apple is reportedly set to release its mixed reality headset in late 2023.
