The week went by like water, and even this time we were not deprived of various speculations, estimates and predictions. Surprisingly, they did not only concern the almost ubiquitous coronavirus, but were related, for example, to the future of CarPlay technology, the future form of the next iPhones, or this year's WWDC.

CarPlay and smart seats

Apple is clearly serious about its attempt to partially penetrate the waters of the automotive industry. The latest patent registered by the company describes a system of automatic shaping of the car seat with the aim of providing the driver with the greatest possible comfort while driving. In theory, an autonomous car from Apple could be equipped with seats of this type in the future, thus ensuring the driver and passengers not only proper comfort, but also safety. In addition, the patent states that the technology can also be applied to office chairs. According to this patent, car seats should be divided into several sections, which Apple wants to prevent premature wear and "fatigue" of the material. The seats will then be equipped with small motors and processors for the best possible adaptation.

The future of WWDC

The coronavirus continues to move the world - including the world of technology. For example, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, and as the infection continues to spread, other planned events are being canceled - for example, Facebook decided to cancel the F8 developer conference, which was scheduled for this May. The question mark also hangs over this year's WWDC. Fortunately, modern technologies make it possible to organize this annual developer conference in an alternative form, for example, in the form of a live broadcast for all participants.

iPhone without a notch?

If you look at the concepts of future iPhones, you can see a trend, especially in the latest ones, according to which the next generation of smartphones from Apple could more or less take the form of a single piece of glass. There is speculation about the removal of the cutout, physical buttons and all the frames around the display. Along with this, the question arises as to how Apple will deal with the controls or the front camera of the smartphone. Some manufacturers have already come up with cameras built under the glass of the display - an example is the Apex 2020. However, with cameras placed under the display, there seems to be a compromise in terms of quality and functions. It is typical for Apple that it is often not the first to come up with a certain solution - but when it does introduce such a solution, it is already free from the "childhood diseases" that the competition had to deal with. According to experts, we will definitely see iPhones without a cutout in the future, but this will only happen when Apple is sure of the absence of any compromises.

Smart Keyboard with built-in trackpad

The Information server reported this week that Apple could release an iPad keyboard with a built-in trackpad this year. According to this report, preparations are even underway for the mass production of this keyboard. The Information reports that the release of an iPad keyboard with a built-in trackpad is another step on Apple's part to make users perceive the tablet as a practically full-fledged alternative to a classic laptop.

iPhone without Lightning port?

The code of the beta version of the iOS 13.4 operating system suggests that Apple could be developing a function for its iPhones that will make it possible to restore the iPhone "over the air", i.e. completely without the need to connect it to a computer with a cable. References to an option called “OS Recovery” were discovered in the code, which could apply not only to iPhones, but also to iPads, Apple Watch or HomePod smart speakers.

iPhone 12 and the coronavirus

Apple executives and engineers are usually visiting China at this time, where production of new iPhones is usually underway. This year, however, the COVID-19 epidemic interfered with these preparations, in several ways. Due to the epidemic, operations were temporarily stopped in a number of companies, plants and factories. The travel restrictions associated with the epidemic also have an influence on the start of the relevant works - because of these restrictions, representatives of the Cupertino company could not visit the Chinese establishments. This could delay not only the production, but also the presentation of the iPhone 12. However, according to some experts, Apple still has a relatively good chance of getting everything done.

A Mac with an ARM processor

If the previous estimates of various analysts are confirmed, next year will be really interesting for Apple. Well-known expert Ming-Chi Kuo, for example, let himself be heard last week that in the first half of next year we could expect the first Mac with an ARM processor, designed directly by Apple. With this move, Apple would no longer have to rely entirely on Intel's manufacturing cycle. If you are interested in the topic of ARM processors, you can read it this article.
