In the course of the past week, an interesting report appeared on the Internet, according to which future iPhones could have the function of detecting the user's attention. Based on its evaluation, the smartphone could, for example, pause the playback of movies or music. In the second part of our roundup of speculation today, we will talk about this year's iPhones. Specifically, about the 14 Plus model, which, according to analyst Ming Chi Kuo, could be a potential flop.

Future iPhones could be able to detect the user's attention

It's only been a while since the new iPhones were introduced, and already it looks like Apple is exploring ways to improve its future models. One of the newly filed patents suggests that future Apple smartphones could have the ability to detect the user's attention while playing media. If the phone detects that the user is no longer paying attention to it, it will automatically pause playback, which, among other things, will significantly save battery life. To detect attention, iPhones would use various components, including a microphone, but the patent also mentions detection of head movements. Based on the detected movements, the device could then be able to evaluate the user's attention and perform appropriate actions based on this evaluation. For now, however, it is still only a patent application, which in the end may not be put into practice at all. But it definitely looks interesting to say the least.

Worse sales of this year's iPhones

During this week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF Securities also commented on the pre-orders of this year's iPhone models. According to Kuo, demand for the iPhone 14 Pro Max surpassed last year's iPhone 13 Pro Max, which Kuo described as good. The iPhone 14 Pro received a neutral rating in this regard, while the remaining two models received a poor rating.

In his preliminary report on sales of this year's iPhone models, Kuo says that demand for this year's Plus variant is even weaker than demand for last year's iPhone 13 mini, which was widely seen as a phone that ended up not having as much interest as was originally expected. Kua was quoted by the GMS Arena server. According to Kuo, the rate of pre-orders for the Pro models of this year's iPhones proves that Apple has managed to maintain loyal and enthusiastic customers who are interested in new smartphones despite the current difficult economic situation. But he adds that the future of the iPhone 14 Plus does not look very good in terms of sales.
