While in the past few parts of our regular roundup of speculations we have focused mainly on products that should see the light of day in the relatively near future, today's article will be completely dedicated to augmented reality. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it should even fully replace one iPhone.

Apple and augmented reality

Speculations about the development of augmented reality at Apple have been gaining momentum again in recent months. Recently, the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also made himself heard in this context, presenting his predictions regarding the future AR headset from the workshop of the Cupertino company. In connection with the mentioned device, for example, Kuo stated that we could expect its arrival already during the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to Kuo, the device for augmented reality should be equipped with two really powerful processors, which should be at the same computing level as the chips found in Apple computers. Kuo also said that Apple's future AR headset will offer the ability to function independently of a Mac or iPhone. As for the software, according to Kuo, we can look forward to the support of a comprehensive range of applications. As for the display, Ming-Chi Kuo states that it should be a pair of Sony 4K micro OLED displays. At the same time, Kuo hints at the possible support of virtual reality in this context.

Will the iPhone be replaced by augmented reality?

The second part of our today's summary of speculations is also related to augmented reality. In one of his recent reports, the aforementioned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also stated, among other things, that the iPhone will remain on the market for another ten years, but after the end of this decade, Apple will most likely replace it with augmented reality.

For some, the news of the relatively early demise of iPhones may sound surprising, but Kuo is far from the only analyst predicting this event. According to experts, the management of Apple is very well aware of the fact that it is impossible to rely on a single product for a long time, and it is necessary to count on the fact that, along with the development of technology, iPhones may one day cease to represent the main source of income for the company. Ming-Chi Kuo is convinced that the future of Apple is primarily connected to the success of the headset for augmented reality. According to Kuo, the stand-alone AR headset will have "its own ecosystem and offer a flexible and comprehensive user experience."
