After a week, on the website of Jablíčkára, we bring you yet another summary of speculations and leaks related to Apple. This time we will talk about the future of 5G modems and the features of this year's iPhones, but we will also mention flexible laptops from the workshop of the Cupertino company.

Is Apple preparing its own 5G modems?

Newer smartphone models from Apple have been offering support for 5G networks for some time. These models are currently equipped with 5G modems from Qualcomm's workshop, but depending on available messages could be over anytime soon, and the Cupertino company could switch to using its own 5G modems. Last week, DigiTimes reported that Apple is reportedly currently negotiating with ASE Technology about the possibility of manufacturing 5G components according to its own design.

5G modem

According to the DigiTimes server, ASE Technology has already collaborated with Qualcomm in the past to produce 5G chips for iPhones. According to DigiTimes, the Cupertino company could sell up to 2023 million iPhones with support for 200G networks in 5, while the new models could be equipped with a new type of 5G components directly from Apple. In addition to the aforementioned ASE Technology, TSMC, which is its long-term supplier of components, should also cooperate with Apple on the production of 5G modems.

Longer battery life on the iPhone 14

More and more speculations related to this year's iPhone models are appearing on the Internet. According to the latest reports, these could also offer, among other things, better battery life and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity support, thanks to a new type of 5G chips. According to the diary Economic Daily News will take care of the production of 5G modems for this year's iPhone models based on Qualcomm's proposal, manufacturer TSMC.

Check out the alleged iPhone 14 renders:

According to the mentioned source, 5G modems for iPhone 14 will be manufactured using the 6nm process, which, among other things, will ensure significantly lower energy consumption and higher performance when using sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G bands. In addition, the new modems should also feature slightly smaller dimensions, thanks to which more space could be left in the new iPhones for a larger battery, which thus ensured the new models a longer duration per charge.

The future of the flexible iPhone

As for the flexible iPhone, it's been a question of if, but when Apple will introduce it for some time now. The server 9to5Mac reported during the past week that the world should not see a flexible iPhone until 2025, while 2023 was originally discussed. This theory is supported by analyst Ross Young, for example, according to whom Apple is also reportedly exploring the possibility of flexible laptops. According to Young, the delay in the introduction of the flexible iPhone came after Apple, based on discussions with the supply chain, concluded that there was no reason to rush to bring this type of iPhone to market.

Also interesting is the news that Apple is exploring the possibilities of making flexible laptops. According to available reports, communication on this topic is currently underway between Apple and potential suppliers. Speculation is that flexible laptops should be equipped with approximately 20″ displays with support for UHD / 4K resolution, they could see the light of day in the years 2025-2027.
