The day when the new conditions of use of the communication platform WhatsApp are to enter into force is slowly but surely approaching. Initially, users were worried that if they did not agree to these terms on May 15, their account would be deleted. But WhatsApp specified at the end of last week that the limitation of the application's functionality will occur gradually - you can read the details in our summary of the day today.

Amazon's new partnership

Not long after Apple released its AirTag trackers, Amazon announced new plans. It's teaming up with Tile, a partnership aimed at integrating Amazon Sidewalk into Tile's Bluetooth locators. Amazon Sidewalk is a network of Bluetooth devices that is used to improve the connectivity of products such as Ring or Amazon Echo, and Tile locators will also become part of this network. Thanks to the new partnership, owners of these devices will receive a number of benefits, such as the ability to search for Tile through the Alexa assistant, cooperation with devices from the Echo product line, and many others. Tile CEO CJ Prober said the Amazon Sidewalk integration will strengthen the search capabilities of Tile's locators, while also simplifying and speeding up the entire process of finding lost items. Amazon Sidewalk integration into Tile products will begin on June 14 of this year.

What is at stake if you do not agree to the new terms of use of WhatsApp?

When the news first appeared in the media that the communication platform WhatsApp was planning to introduce new rules and terms of use, many users wondered what would happen to them if they did not agree to these terms. Originally, there was talk of canceling the account, but now there have been reports according to which the "sanctions" for not agreeing to the new terms of use of WhatsApp will eventually be different - or graduated. The new conditions are to enter into force on May 15. At the end of last week, WhatsApp issued an official statement in which it literally states that no one will lose their WhatsApp account due to the update, but the functionality of the application will be limited - it was the deletion of the account that many users were initially worried about. The situation eventually developed in such a way that if you do not agree to the terms of use of WhatsApp on May 15, you will first have to repeatedly display notifications asking you to agree to these terms.

Users who do not agree to the new terms of use of WhatsApp will lose the ability to read and send messages from within the application, but will still be able to receive calls and notifications. The only way it will be possible to respond to messages will be the option to respond directly to the notification. If (or until) you do not agree to the new terms, you will also lose access to the chat list, but it will still be possible to answer incoming voice and video calls. However, this will not be a permanent partial restriction. If you do not agree to the new conditions even after a few more weeks, you will lose the ability to receive incoming calls, as well as receive notifications and receive incoming messages. In the event that you do not log into WhatsApp for more than 120 days (ie your account will not show any activity), you can expect it to be completely deleted for security and privacy reasons. So what are we going to lie about - we will not accept anything other than the terms, that is, if you do not want to lose your account. The new terms of use of WhatsApp were originally supposed to come into effect on March 8, but due to a huge wave of resentment from users, it was postponed to May 15.
