A number of services today offer a paid version in addition to the free version, which provides users with a number of different benefits. These services also include the Twitch streaming platform - but its subscription was unbearably high for many viewers. Therefore, Twitch has now decided to reduce the amount of this subscription. At the same time, its operators hope that they will be able to attract more users and provide streamers with higher earnings. The second part of the article will talk about the Teams platform, which Microsoft intends to make available for personal use for free.

Twitch is lowering subscription prices to increase revenue for creators

The popular streaming platform Twitch announced on Monday significant changes to the amount of its subscription. Most countries outside of the United States will see a new reduction in subscription prices, with Turkey and Mexico among the first starting on May 20. Twitch's operators believe that by lowering the subscription price, they could attract more paying users to the platform, allowing creators to earn more in the long run. Right now, the most affordable subscription that will benefit both viewers and creators is $4,99.

Twitch Subscribe for Less

Twitch's VP of Monetization, Mike Minton, but this week in interview for The Verge magazine stated that even this price may be unbearably high for users in some countries. Twitch released related statements, in which he stated that the change is intended to make subscriptions more accessible. The modified subscription was tested in Brazil and it was shown that streamers' earnings more than doubled after the subscription was reduced. Of course, there is also a scenario in play in case the subscription reduction does not have a positive effect on streamers' income. If a given creator's income drops below a certain amount after a subscription reduction, Twitch will make sure to match their earnings accordingly.

Microsoft Teams for families

Microsoft decided this week to come up with a more "personal" version of its communication platform Microsoft Teams. The application will now be available free of charge to everyone who would like to use it for personal purposes such as communication with family or friends. The service as such will be very similar to the Microsoft Teams application that many users are familiar with from a work or study environment, and will allow users to chat, organize video calls, share calendars, location or even various types of files. At the same time, Microsoft will continue to offer the possibility of twenty-four hour video calls - this feature was first demonstrated in a trial version last November. With this feature, users can make contact with up to three hundred people in video calls that can last up to twenty-four hours. In the case of calls with more than a hundred people, Microsoft will set the limit to sixty minutes in the future, but will keep the limit of twenty-four hours for "one-on-one" calls.

In the past, users could try the version of Microsoft Teams for personal use on both Android and iOS devices. With this version of Teams, Microsoft will also make available the Together function, which consists in the fact that the system uses artificial intelligence to connect the faces of all participants in a single virtual space - a similar function was offered by Skype last December, for example. As for Skype, Microsoft has yet to talk about any plans to replace it with MS Teams.
