Friday's summary of the past day's events will this time be entirely under the sign of two social networks - TikTok and Instagram. Both are preparing new functions for their users. In the case of TikTok, this is another extension of video footage, this time to three minutes. All users should get this feature over the next few weeks. For a change, according to available reports, Instagram is preparing a function of exclusive content for paying users, but in this case the news has not yet been officially confirmed.

TikTok offers the ability to create longer videos for all users

The popular social app TikTok will soon offer all users, without distinction, the ability to record longer videos. It will be up to three minutes, which is three times higher than what is currently the standard length of a tiktok video. Extending the footage of videos will give TikTok creators more flexibility when filming, and will also reduce the number of videos that had to be split into multiple parts due to length restrictions (however, this method of filming suited many creators and helped them keep their followers in suspense). Three-minute videos have been tested on TikTok since December last year. The most important creators had them available, while this footage gained great popularity especially in the cooking and recipes category. All TikTok users should be able to shoot three-minute videos in the next few weeks. TikTok management has not yet specified how the length of clips will affect the video recommendation algorithm, but it can be assumed that over time the platform will automatically start offering longer videos to users.

Instagram is planning to launch a subscription for exclusive obsa

Yesterday, there were reports on the Internet that the creators of the social network Instagram are testing a new feature that should be similar in many ways to the Super Follows feature from Twitter. It should be content that would be exclusively available only to those users who pay for it in the form of a regular subscription. TechCrunch reported about it yesterday, citing a Twitter post by developer Alessandro Paluzzi. He published a screenshot on his Twitter with information about an exclusive story, available only to paying users. The exclusive stories icon should be purple and posts will not be able to take a screenshot. The exclusive stories feature certainly looks interesting, but its internal testing does not guarantee that it will actually be implemented. Payment for exclusive content is no longer just a privilege of platforms such as Patreon, which are directly intended for this purpose, but is slowly finding its way into standard applications as well - the already mentioned Super Follows function on Twitter can serve as an example. For creators, this means, among other things, another possibility of earning without having to move to other platforms for this purpose.
