AR glasses from Facebook's workshop have been speculated for so long that Facebook itself first promised them as its next hardware product and finally created a mysterious teaser for them in collaboration with Ray-Ban. We now know that today's date will be associated with Facebook's AR glasses. In the second part of our round-up of the day today, we will talk about Twitter, which is about to introduce a "gentle block" feature. How will it look in practice?

Facebook and Ray-Ban lure users to new AR glasses

Until relatively recently, the idea of smart glasses produced by Facebook came to us more like science fiction. Speculations and above all plans regarding these glasses began to take on more and more concrete dimensions over time, and during the first half of this week we were able to definitively convince ourselves that we will finally see a product of this type. The companies Facebokk and Ray-Ban have published several posts in which they officially announce that we will receive more detailed information already today. It appeared on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook Stories video with POV shots, which could theoretically come from these glasses, and which suggest that the glasses will be suitable for a wide range of different types of activities and in almost any weather.

The Aria project works with augmented reality, but it is not intended for ordinary consumers:

Meanwhile, eyewear maker Ray-Ban has posted a promotional page on its website featuring the silhouette of the glasses along with the date 09. 09. 2021 and an invitation to potential interested parties to register to receive additional information about the issue of glasses. However, there is no indication from the information on this page when exactly the glasses should be officially released, or whether September 9th is really the date of their official introduction. By the sentence about "a story you're guaranteed to want to watch", Ray-Ban's website apparently alludes to Mark Zuckerberg's aforementioned post. Zuckerberg's video also features Andrew Bosworth, who is in charge of virtual and augmented reality at Facebook. Facebook considers its yet-to-be-released glasses to be an important step towards the next model, which should already fully support augmented reality. Zuckerberg confirmed in July this year that glasses are to be the next hardware product to come out of Facebook's workshop.

Twitter is testing another new feature

It looks like the popular social network Twitter has a lot of new features in store for its users all the time. The latest should be the so-called "soft block", i.e. the ability to remove selected users from the follower list without directly blocking them. The function of removing a selected account from the list of followers is currently in the testing phase, only on Twitter in the version for web browsers. If it proves itself and everything works as it should, this new feature should soon become part of the official menu of Twitter tools, and should be available in all its versions.

Twitter Soft Block

The start of testing of the mentioned function was announced in one of the official Twitter posts. According to the attached screenshot, removing the selected account from the follower list should be very quick and easy. It is enough to click on the icon of three dots on the right of the selected account and choose to delete it. It also follows from the notification on the screenshot that the person in question will not know that he has been removed from the follower list - or rather, he will not be notified of this fact. But if he notices the deletion himself and wants to start following the account again, he can do so. This is a kind of "softer" variant of the classic blocking, during which the person in question loses the ability to read the tweets of the selected account and send private messages to its creator.
