The pandemic situation is finally starting to improve again in many places around the world. Along with this, there is also a return of company employees back to the offices. Google is no exception in this regard, but its management decided that it could enable its employees to work both from offices and from home. Next, in our roundup of the day today, we will talk about Donald Trump. He had his Facebook account suspended earlier this year in connection with the riots at the Capitol — and it was his possible future reinstatement that was discussed this week.

Donald Trump's Facebook ban has been extended

In our roundup of the day yesterday, we included you informed also about the fact that the former American president, Donald Trump, founded his own social platform, which he had promised his supporters for a long time. For Trump, his own platform is currently the only way to communicate his views and positions to the world - he has been banned from both Twitter and Facebook for some time. This week, an association of independent experts considered whether to grant Trump a lifetime or only a temporary ban, or whether a lifetime ban is disproportionately harsh.

Purely in theory, the aforementioned ban can be extended indefinitely, but at the moment, it has been extended for another six months following the negotiations of the responsible Facebook employees. After that time, Trump's ban will be up for negotiation again. Facebook's vice president of global affairs and communications, Nick Clegg, confirmed Wednesday that Donald Trump's Facebook account will remain blocked for at least the next six months. After that, the whole thing will be re-evaluated. The social platform Twitter also resorted to blocking the account, Trump's YouTube account was also suspended. YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, however, said in this regard that it will reactivate Trump's account in the future.

Some Google employees will be able to work from home more

As certain anti-epidemic measures are gradually relaxed and the availability of the vaccine increases, company employees around the world are slowly starting to return from the environment of their homes back to the offices. For some companies, however, the coronavirus era has become, among other things, proof that it is not always absolutely necessary to go to the office. One such company is Google, whose CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced this week that he is working on measures that would allow some employees to continue working from home in the future.

In his email message to Bloomberg, Pichai recalled that Google is starting to gradually reopen its offices and is slowly returning to normal operations. At the same time, however, they are also trying to introduce a system of hybrid work, within the framework of which employees will be able to work to a greater extent in the form of a home office. Google was one of the leading technology companies to allow its employees to work remotely after the outbreak of the pandemic in the first half of last year. Bloomberg estimates that the move to work from home has saved Google about $2021 billion, mostly in travel costs. Google itself then stated in its report on financial results for the first quarter of 288 that it managed to save $XNUMX million in costs related to travel or entertainment.
