After a short hiatus, the social network Parler is returning to the online space - this time with a new provider and with the promise that it will hopefully not disappear again. In addition, today the Bitcoin rate attacked the historical limit of 50 thousand dollars, which was quite expected after the investment by Musk's Tesla. Other news in this roundup of the day include the introduction of new wireless gaming headsets from Microsoft and a report on vulnerabilities in the Telegram app.

Parler is back online

Earlier this year, she took Parler as her social network, which many considered controversial. The platform, which was considered one of the most accommodating in terms of freedom of expression, was "turned off" this year after several major technology companies began boycotting it in various ways. The app in question has also disappeared from the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. One of the final nails in the Parler platform's coffin was the increasing frequency of posts that encouraged violence and law-breaking. But this week the Parler platform returned, albeit not fully and not yet permanently. Its operators have concluded an agreement with Epik, which, among other things, also deals with hosting. After its return, Parler relies on "sustainable, independent technology", according to its operators, which should significantly reduce the probability of a re-shutdown.

Vulnerabilities in the Telegram application

Security experts said this week that they discovered a total of thirteen different vulnerabilities in the increasingly popular communications platform during a single investigation. In this context, an IT company called Shileder confirmed the occurrence of the mentioned errors and at the same time stated that everything was reported to the operators of Telegram, who promptly made a subsequent correction. The bugs were discovered during a source code review of new animated stickers that appeared in the app in 2019, with one of the bugs allowing, for example, malicious stickers to be sent to other Telegram users in order to gain access to their private messages, photos and videos. Bugs appeared in the Telegram app for Android, iOS, and macOS devices. Despite the fact that the information about the errors appeared in public only this week, it is a relatively old matter and the correction of the mentioned errors already took place as part of the September and October updates during the course of last year. So if you have the latest version of Telegram installed on your device, you are safe.

The price of Bitcoin soared above the $50 mark

The price of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency surpassed the $50 mark for the first time in history today. It happened just two months after this most famous cryptocurrency managed to cross the $20 mark. For Bitcoin, this means an unusually sharp growth, but not only experts began to predict it after Elon Musk's Tesla company decided to invest 1,5 billion dollars in Bitcoin. Bitcoin's price surge - but also other cryptocurrencies – will continue for some time, according to experts. After some initial embarrassment and partial disinterest, various important companies, banks and other similar institutions are beginning to show more and more interest in cryptocurrencies.
