The name of the development company CD Projekt Red has practically been inflected in all cases since the beginning of this year. It was first talked about in connection with the release of the long-awaited game title Cyberpunk 2077, and a little later in connection with a hacker attack in which sensitive data and source codes were stolen. Now another not-so-pleasing piece of news has appeared in connection with CD Projekt Red, which is the postponement of the upcoming security patch for the aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077. In addition to this topic, today's news summary will also talk about yesterday's Facebook outage, automatic subtitles in the Zoom application, or the fact that how the public reacts to the upcoming new feature of the YouTube streaming platform.

Cyberpunk 2077 security patch delayed

It looks like the news regarding the development company CD Projekt Red just won't stop. Instead, the company has now announced that the release of its planned second major security patch for Cyberpunk 2077 must be delayed. CD Projekt Red should therefore not release the mentioned patch until the end of next month, and one of the reasons for this delay is the recent hacker attack, which we have already told you about on the Jablíčkář website several times informed. The company did not provide any further details in this regard. According to the Bloomberg agency, which refers to reliable sources in its report, the aforementioned attack probably has much more serious consequences than it initially seemed. The attackers demanded a ransom from the company for the stolen data, but the company refused to pay them anything. In the end, according to available reports, the attackers managed to auction off the data on the Internet. The attackers also said that sensitive data of CD Projekt Red employees was leaked as part of the attack.

Automatic captioning in Zoom

Given the current unimproving situation, it looks like we will be staying in our homes for some time yet, and we will be doing work and teaching remotely via the internet. One of the tools whose popularity has increased in connection with the introduction of home office and home education is, for example, the Zoom communication platform. Its creators are now trying to provide users with as many useful and interesting functions as possible. While before, for example, it was about filters, which are of no use in teaching or video conferencing, this week a function was added that many users will certainly welcome - this is the addition of automatic subtitles. These are nothing new at Zoom, but until now the application only offered them to owners of paid Zoom accounts. The management of the company has now announced that those who have a basic free user account in the Zoom application will now be able to use automatic subtitles, which are created with the help of artificial intelligence. Live transcription on Zoom is currently only available in English, but over time this feature will begin to expand to a greater number of different languages. For example, the Google Meet communication platform also offers automatic subtitles.

YouTube

In yesterday's roundup of tech events, among other news, we also informed you that streaming platform YouTube is preparing to make it easier for younger viewers to transition from the YouTube Kids app to the standard version of YouTube. Google wants to provide parents of these children with tools to better control and reduce potentially objectionable content. The feature is currently in beta testing. According to YouTube, this feature is supposed to work based on machine learning combined with human supervision. At the same time, YouTube admitted on its blog that the function may not be 100% reliable and did not rule out the possibility of circumventing it by younger, resourceful users. The reaction from the public to this news did not take long and the response is definitely not 100% positive. In the comments, users complain, for example, that YouTube is making unnecessary efforts to develop something that is very difficult to control, and remind that the company has long refused to listen to their requests for completely different functions, such as the ability to block a specific YouTube channel, create content filters and the like.

Outage of Facebook and other services

Maybe you also experienced a sudden outage on Facebook, Facebook Messenger or Instagram almost from minute to minute yesterday in the early evening. The Down Detector server literally filled up in no time with reports from users who confirmed the outage. The cause of the outage was unknown at the time of writing, but what is certain is that despite the relatively massive scale, it was not an outage that affected all users completely. While some complained about the gradual failure of FB Messenger, Facebook and later also private messages on Instagram, for others these services worked all the time without any significant problem.
