At the beginning of April, we informed you in one of our summaries that WhatsApp is preparing a feature, which will make the transition from Android to iOS more pleasant for users. Now there are reports that WhatsApp wants to make it easier to switch to a new phone number as well. Apart from WhatsApp, our roundup of the day today will also talk about Facebook, which has recently faced criticism for its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as well as the Indian government, which wants to remove mentions of the "Indian mutation of the coronavirus" from social media.

WhatsApp will allow you to transfer chats from one number to another

The communication platform WhatsApp must continue to face a partial outflow of users due to the newly introduced terms of use, but this does not mean that its creators have begun to neglect it - lately it seems that they are trying to do the exact opposite. WABetainfo, which deals with upcoming news for WhatsApp and features under testing, recently reported that WhatsApp is preparing a feature for one of its next updates that will allow users to transfer their chat history even when switching to another phone number. In the screenshots published by WABetainfo, we can see that in addition to chats as such, media can also be converted. The mentioned function is currently in the development stage, WhatsApp plans to introduce it both for iOS devices and for smartphones with the Android operating system - but the exact date of release of the relevant update is not yet known.

Facebook is facing a wave of negative reviews

The social network Facebook has to deal with criticism every now and then. This is most often associated with how Facebook management approaches the privacy of its users. But now Facebook has to face a slightly different kind of criticism. The Facebook app in both the App Store and the Google Play Store has received a lot of low ratings recently. The huge wave of negative ratings on the Facebook app is said to be caused by pro-Palestinian activists, who decided to express their disapproval of Facebook allegedly censoring some Palestinian accounts on its platform. NBC News reported that Facebook has assigned the highest priority to this situation and is intensively addressing it internally. Among other things, Facebook management tried to take steps to remove the negative reviews, but Apple refused to remove the mentioned reviews. At the time of writing, the Facebook app has a rating of 2,4 stars in the App Store, with a total of 4,3 thousand users rating it. Criticism of Facebook's approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict very often appears in the latest negative reviews.

India is fighting against the term "Indian mutation" on social media

The last part of our summary of the day today will also be related to social networks. The Indian government recently started a message to social platform operators asking them to remove content that refers to the "Indian mutation" of the COVID-19 disease. It was not an open letter and it is not clear which specific social networks received it. In the aforementioned letter, the Indian government allegedly reminds that the term "Indian mutation" has no scientific basis and does not come from the World Health Organization. Since 2015, it has avoided naming various diseases with human names, animal names or geographical names.
